Dear Valued Bidville Sellers:

Bidville has recently made many updates and changes to the listing and re-listing processes. We are currently working hard to make searching, browsing, buying, and selling on Bidville more user friendly. All of the updates have been started to help make Bidville faster and more stable. The following is a list of changes that are in the process of being implemented.

Any items that expired more than 90 days ago will be removed from Bidville.

The maximum number of automatic re-lists has been changed from twenty (20) to five (5). This re-list number may be used for any listing duration time: 5, 7, 14, 20, or 30 days. Also, notice we have removed the three (3) and ten (10) day auction durations. The thirty day auction duration will also be removed.

Items that have a ‘Fixed Price’ (where the opening bid and Take It Price are the same) will not actually ‘re-list’. The auction will end when there is a bid, or when the total duration requested is up. For example, you list an item for 10 days, with 4 auto re-lists, or for 20 days with 2 auto-relists. In both cases, your item will be listed for 40 days or until sold. There is no need to relist. All listings will have a maximum duration of 120 days. (One initial 20 day duration and five 20 day relists.)

For example, you list a ‘Fixed Price’ auction for a 20 day duration time with 4 automatic relists. Your item will run for 100 days (initial 20 days plus 80 days of relists). As a bonus, ‘Fixed Price’ items listed with gallery, home page feature, or any other enhancement will keep the enhancements with no additional charge for the duration of the auction listing (maximum of 120 days). Previously, the enhancements would have expired during re-lists.

Also, we will be enforcing rules to eliminate “spamming” of auctions (placing multiple copies of the same item, at the same price, for the same duration). This technique is used by many sellers since there are no listing fees on Bidville. (There are some sellers with hundreds of copies of the same item posted.) The new rule is to disallow this practice. If you have multiple quantities of an item, it should be a Dutch auction, not multiple auctions.

We are in the process of removing all auctions that are duplicates that you, the seller, had listed. If you had more than one item listed with the same exact title, starting price, and quantity, you will now only have one (1) of that item listed on Bidville. This will help buyers find what they are looking for easier without having to go through multiples of the same item listings.

Bidville is also in the process of programming a ‘Fixed Price’ and Take It Dutch auction option. Once completed, you may list multiple quantities of the same item in one Take It auction or ‘Fixed Price’ auction listing. This option has never been available on Bidville before.

We are confident that the above changes (along with many more to come) will have a positive effect on the Bidville Community as a whole. The website will operate more efficiently and buying and selling will be easier.

If you have any questions about the improvements and updates to the listing processes, please let us know by posting in the Bidville Help section or by contacting Bidville Customer Service.

Thank you for continuing to grow with us,

The Bidville Team
Quote:We are in the process of removing all auctions that are duplicates.... If you had more than one item listed with the same exact title, starting price, and quantity, you will now only have one (1) of that item listed on Bidville.

The removal of duplicates has reduced the listing count from about 1.4 million to 1.15 million with about 200,000 of that decrease in the sports cards categories.  The "clutter removal" should make it easier for buyers ( Happy001  buyers on BV...yeah, right) to find items.

The removal has also created a large headache for sellers because the new 'duplicate title' filter is preventing sellers from editing running auctions.  See below:

Quote:ERROR:
This item has the same title and price as your item number 114xxxxx. Bidville allows sellers to list an unlimited number of auctions for free. However, duplication of items is not allowed. We suggest you change the quantity of your original item if you have more than one.

Sellers are also complaining about the reduction in the maximum number of relists from 20 to 5, and the purging of closed auctions/sales that are older than 90 days.

They rally should just eliminate all of the general auction categories and concentrate on being a sports and memorabilia site.  The number of non-sports general auction items they have listed isn't very impressive and ranks them behind Yahoo (470K), iOffer (500K+), ePier (almost 400K total: 150K auctions, 250K stores)., and just ahead of Overstock.
