Quote: Sticker shock rather than a poor site design or checkout process may be the major cause of shopping cart abandonment

A majority of cart abandoners (57%) said they left products in shopping carts because they didn’t want to pay for shipping charges, Forrester said. 48% said they didn’t complete the purchase online because the total cost—product costs, shipping, handling or taxes—was more than expected.

I must be ahead of the curve or something.
Maybe have my finger on the pulse of the buyers or just a real smart guy. LOL.
Wave
Who knows???

Just in the last week and right after getting my new MA.
I decide to do away with the shipping breakdowns.

Now what they see is what they pay.

If the item they wants price is $19.95 that’s it.

They pay $19.95.

If they want two, the price drops to say 16.95 for each.
Three four and more get even DEEPER discounts on all but the largest items
I manufacture and sell.

Also a good idea if you don’t want a customer to haggle over say 11.95 shipping and it only cost you 8.95.

I had an ebay buyer (who is also a seller), ask a week ago or so say:

“Gee 11.95 is pretty high to ship. Can I use my UPS account and just pay the BIN price for the item?"

I politely responded with this.

I don't like getting those types who want to try and dictate the TOS.
Get enough of that from momma ppbay over there. LOL
It has always been a smart move to include the shipping costs within the purchase price if at all possible.  I will do that on auctions as a bidding incentive.

For all ebay items, I always state that I will combine shipping on multiple purchases.  Big corporations never combine shipping for less --  Stated price per item remains the same price per item, so that's probably where the sticker shock comes in.  I've abandoned carts myself, as well, because of that.

Good move, xpp.
Thanks Star.

Well it’s a new thing for me and I just happened to stumble on this idea
when configuring the new shopping cart.

Hopefully I'm not creating sticker shock when an item use to be say 20.00 + 11.95  S&H.
Because now it is just 31.95. Yes ONLY 31.95 and if you ACT NOW and buy two for only 29.95.
We will apply a coat of polyurethane FREE.
