Thanks for this, mandy.  ^-^

We're proud of our solution and challenge everyone to compare it feature-for-feature not only to other open-source shopping carts but to commercial shopping carts as well.

If anyone has any questions regarding PrestaShop, feel free to send me a personal message or post them here. We also have a Forum on our site, although for the time being most of our user community is francophone.

Just a wee clarification, mandy, if I may: Your post headline and Tag read "PrestaCart" instead of "PrestaShop". I can see you're quite busy but a correction would be most appreciated. :)

Cheers for now!

P.S. A new version, 0.8.6, is due out in a week or so. Lots of bug fixes and a brand-new installer wizard, among other improvements ...

A couple of feature suggestions:

1. a bulk lister (inventory import/export).
2. a returns RMA module

I like the text alerts feature.

The lack of a bulk lister is the biggest complaint on Etsy. It is a huge PITA to list there.

I like the text alerts feature.

A large segment of online shoppers, the under-25 demographic, would prefer to receive notifications via SMS rather than email. Very few ecommerce packages offer any text notification capability for buyers.

We're glad you like the SMS alerts feature. It's been developed, is being tested, and will be included in the next build release, planned for a week from today (on Monday, Nov. 26).

As for a bulk lister, not surprisingly this is a common feature request. We're in the process of developing it and are planning to include it in our first stable release, v1.0, due out in mid-December.

We are also developing a Returns RMA module, which is quite complicated to do but should be ready by January.

The first production version has been released

Quote from: press release

A review of PrestaShop and Ubercart:

Quote
Ubercart
Ubercart is an open source e-commerce program designed to integrate fully with the content management system Drupal. Despite its German-sounding name, the company that developed it is based in Louisville, Kentucky. Like PrestaShop, development on the cart began two years ago, and a stable version 1.0 was recently released. It is based on the prior version of Drupal, version 5, and is currently being transitioned to work with Drupal version 6. Ubercart is available for free under the GNU Public License and is available in 44 languages.

Stand Out Features
What is unique about Ubercart is that its tight integration with Drupal allows you to seamlessly combine a fully-functional community, business or news Web site with e-commerce. This allows Ubercart store owners to sell members-only access to premium paid content, with automatic renewals and expiration of user access. The integration with Drupal also gives the option of using blogs, social networking, forums, newsletters or custom displays of content. It also allows the store owner to offer paid file downloads such as music, videos, e-books and software...

I like PrestaShop... has some real promise. Not bloatware like CRE Loaded and Eos Online Merchant. I have a feeling they won't be forcing people to purchase SSL Certificates either. The slew of frontend and backend features are a plus - lets not forget that its also Open Source [yea baby!]. Nice to see that v1.1 was finally released.

PrestaShop notes:

Tip #1: make telephone number required on checkout:

in /classes/address.php
find
Code: [Select]
protected    $fieldsRequired = array('id_country', 'alias', 'lastname', 'firstname', 'address1', 'postcode', 'city');
change to:
Code: [Select]
protected    $fieldsRequired = array('id_country', 'alias', 'lastname', 'firstname', 'address1', 'postcode', 'city', 'phone');
in themes/[your theme]/authentication.tpl

find:
Code: [Select]

    {l s='Home phone'}

change to:
Code: [Select]

    {l s='Home phone'}

    *

Tip #2 Google Base mod:
A. download v0.4 from here http://www.ecartservice.net/tag/googlebase/
B. in googlebase.php

find:
Code: [Select]
$this->_addToFeed("
".stripslashes(htmlspecialchars($Product['description_short']))."
"); change to:
Code: [Select]
$this->_addToFeed("
".stripslashes(htmlspecialchars($Product['description']))."
");
Tip #3:

The PayPal mod included with 1.1.0.5 is full of bugs. Uninstall it and install the PayPal v2.0 beta 2 mod instead from http://www.ecartservice.net/08092008/beta-v2-paypal-module-prestashop/

The overwhelming majority of visitor's to our Zen Cart sites are referred by Google but the visitors to our 2 PrestaShop sites come from...

3 month visitor referrer results:

Presta 1: Google and Yahoo are tied
Presta 2: 25% more visitors from TheFind than from Google :blinkie: , 3 1/2 times more visitors from Google than from Yahoo

::)

Echoing what has been said by many on the PrestaShop forums -> :happy001: Who the boink is going to spend $450 for an Authorize.net module when almost every other shopping cart includes Authorize.net support as a basic feature? ::)

http://www.prestashop.com/forums/viewthread/37639/general_discussion/authorize_dot_net_really_300_euros
http://www.prestashop.com/forums/viewthread/40146/modules___development/authorize_dot_net_module_am_i_misunderstanding_the_price

FYI, there is a free (but very buggy if you're using Prestashop v 1.2x) Authorize.net mod...see post #12 on this thread for the download link:

The Prestashop forum has been growing rapidly as well, it reached nearly 50,000 members, and is by far the best place to get help or questions answered, usually within a short period of time.
Make sure you search the forum first, because many questions have already been answered.

I totally agree about the Authorize.net module, which is why I wrote my own version that I am selling in my Prestashop Modules Store, it is also connected to the prestashop refund system, so if you cancel or refund an order from the backoffice, it automatically does issues the void / refund command to authorize.net. I have many useful modules for Prestashop, like the affordable Authorize.net module, filter module, a translation module (which I used to translate my site to 15 other languages), an attribute wizard module that lets you customize your attributes similar to apple’s website, and many more.
They can be found on my website http://www.presto-changeo.com , along with many tips about troubleshooting and fixing common problems, improving SEO, and other useful information.
