Just got an email from a PH member that this was just posted:
Quote
Re: So what the heck happenned?                                                    Hi All

Ok what happened you all say, well firstly we came under a
massive attack by hackers using bots PC's (PC's that are
remotely controlled to attack servers) and this caused a
massive amount of log files and other assorted crap to pile
 up on our server.
Secondly the server has a built in safety mechanism to shut
any scripts down that are linked to a domain under such a
 massive attack.
Only good news amongst this is nobody has gotten in and we
are still under a mild attack from these bots but doing what is
 needed to keep them out.
It has taken us ages along with help from our own server techs
from iweb and others to clean this up.
Yes I apologize for the inconvenience, it has not been nice for
 users nor us.
All fees and final value fees have been turned off till further
notice, probably till July so you can not worry about paying for
 listing and something else happening.
Only few fees we have had to hold to keep the integrity of
the featured items is we will have the category and home
featured fees left as is and also the ID verification fee,
everything else for listing will be free.
Basically NO listing fees and NO final value fees.
We are catching up on the emails slowly so bear with us as we
 do that.

Also a huge thankyou to all those who offered help especially
from other site owners like Renee from Usiff and Ray
'Binarywebs' this was really appreciated whilst battling this.

For those who wish to continue with us please enjoy the
opportunity to list for free and for any feeling that they want
to depart we wish you well and we will be here for you should
you wish to return at anytime.

In my opinion now we are up after such a huge effort would be
crazy just to depart but the beauty of choice is in your hands.

I will advise of other updates as they happen.

 Mark

What happened to the single link theory causing the site to go *poof*?
It would be crazy to depart after a near 3 week unannounced downtime caused by hackers that are still in the script and database?
NO one got in, then why such a problem letting your sellers know at some point the past 3 weeks?
No listing fees (there never were) and no final value fees (instead of the 3% of $20.)

It sounds like there are not only serious holes in PH, but in the newest Probid as well.
It would be crazy NOT to depart from any Probid site.

From the homepage, PH Recently Sold this morning:
NEW IPhone 3G 16GB... $175, Chinese seller? Probably a fake IPhone.
Louis Vuitton Stephen Sprouse...  low quality illegal LV copy
LOUIS VUITTON GRAFFITI TSHIRTS WITH... low quality illegal LV copy
110 DISNEY DVDS TREASURE CHEST... Pirated

Congrats Mark! You have succeeded in transforming the site into an Asian knockoff site for your neighbors in Malaysia and China. Move over IOffer.

Probably a fake IPhone.

It's selling for a fraction of the wholesale price for unlocked iPhones. It's definitely a fake.

illegal LV copy

It might be in his and David Taylor's best financial interests to change the domain registration to a non-EU citizen/entity if he's going to allow LV counterfeits.  LV is probably the most aggressive designer in enforcing their copyrights and bringing legal action against sellers AND sites that allow the selling of knockoff LV merchandise.

Troll alert!
PSU User:

PHP ProBid V6 has a live auction stress test limit of 250,000 “live auction” not listings meaning once your site reach 250,000 live auction anything can go wrong will go wrong.
Mo bashes him as a troll and sprays him with that idiots-only-use troll spray picture.

Our preliminary stress testing carried out when the rewritten V6.x
engine was released last year concluded at 250,000 dummy auctions and 500,000 dummy users

Based on ASs's current customer acquisition rate, Mo won't have to worry about hitting the 500,000 user limit until the year 2762 :happy001:

ASs started stealing PH customers and running auctions in March 2008 before Marktard bought PH.  By my calculations* the correct year is 2825 NOT 2762! :thefinger:

*Sneaky's calculations
(664/13)*12=612.92 new customers per year
500,000/612.92=815.76 years to reach 500,000 users

As long as the 19,000 imported items that no one ever bothered to move to the appropriate categories are there from August, and the Nazi, pirate, and counterfeit sellers remain, all is well in the PlunderWorld because they still have over 50,000 auctions. Get rid of all that junk, and they probably don't even have enough for the PSU count minimum.
Speaking of him, from the Nazi seller's global message:
Quote
Paypal may not be used for Nazi item sale to Areas where prohibited or the government is in such poor shape that one guy Buying something will bring their sorry ass down. Would strongly prefer any other payment method as They operate like Jerks.
http://www.plunderhere.com/other_items.php?owner_id=101233
That's what Mark plunders with now. Most of the decent folks are headed off to the next Probid site to implode.

Nazi seller alert:
He now operates stores on 8 sites, as well as his own site.

It's a shame we don't have a bigger voice to boycott these sites. Wait, I wouldn't shop at them anyways.  :happy001:
Maybe we should send him a message to check out Wagglepop's free store.

I am all for freedom of speech and fully believe he has every right to use his, the same way we have a right to call him a disgusting dirtbag while he says whatever he wants about us.
What I can't stand is a site that calls itself a business like Plunderhere & Specialist Auctions (with dozens of site moderators) and Epier align themselves with this crap, thus subjecting everyone else's businesses to be associated with it as well. As far as the IOffer store, this boinktard may be a step up from the usual seller. At least what he is selling doesn't violate every trademark and copyright on the international books, and no one has a right to get offended when they are selling their own illegal junk.

It's a free market. But I wouldn't shop at Target as a customer, or sell through Target as a vendor, if they started selling Nazi flags, patches, and concentration camp "memorabilia."

From the PH boards, Marktard posting:
Quote
Yes very frustrating for sellers and we realize how much effort
you all have put in to add listings etc.
95% of fees are off now so that will more than compensate - from
our side we almost lost the whole damn site but thanks to 2 teams
of techs getting stuck in we preserved the data, stopped the attack
 and got back up again.
Obviously it was more complex than that but somebody out
there wanted us down for good but we came back fighting.

That's how to address your issues. Sound a little like Ray Romeo's blame game?
How about that Nazi seller that Ecrater kicked off?  :icon_thumleft:
Visit the hacker's paradise at Plunderhere.  :notworthy:

It's been a little over a year since all the PH/aSs/MO stuff started. It's been a heck of a year for both sites. I thought I'd display a few stats:
PH front page featured sales:
4 listings for fake Louis Vuitton merchandise from a seller MO even said on PSU that she banned immediately.
1 Nazi seller still active with 9% of the sites listings.
Over 50% decrease in listings since November, sitting at just 36,000.
The site downtime totaled of 8.6% of the year, a week for the script change, 3weeks for the server moves, and 3 weeks for hackers.

aSs:
29,000 listings, 19,000 are a single seller named "Bookz" that has sold 4 books in 9 months.
Sales are booming, $2.98 average sale price, $2484 total from 833 sales.
The site's inventory turns over an average of once every 3 years, with roughly 10,000 sales annually based on the April average.
The average monthly sales per seller are $35.48, meaning in a year on 23 rinky dink sites as successful as Alsoshop would place a seller slightly above the poverty level.

This is a poster child year for rinky dink sites.
