**This thread is devoted to the Moronic utterings Of A UK rinky dink site owner.  Please put all MORONIC quotes by this boinktard in this thread.**

Clueless UK auction site owner thinks more buyers than sellers read threads on OAI seller forums.  Confusedtolensmiley:

His cluelessness about the online habits of buyers might explain his site's beyond pathetic GMV and his inability to attract members (225) or listings (677)
http://www.auctionsworldwide.net/lastwins_bingot.php

January 2009: 8 sales, $133
December 2008: 4 sales, $23
November 2008: 8 sales, $40
Ah yes... The all wise one who fragments his 663 auctions into 10 sections for a world fayre...
Motor Mart, Auctions, Market Hall, High Street, Library, Garage Sale, Cottage Ind., Antique, Reverse, and don't forget those marvelous auction rooms.
Amazing that he can attract such massive numbers of 97,000 unique visitors...
http://auctionsworldwide.net/viewaccessstats_bingot.php
yet only post only 8 sales in the same timeframe...

I Think I would give up if that much traffic wouldn't give more than a .00008% conversion rate, but he just keeps plugging along. 1 of every 12,000 visitors places a bid... That's optimism!
The stats are especially funny when Compete has them at just 172 uniques a month:

Note to boinktard site owners:
If you use funny stats, make sure they all make sense together.
Traffic exchanges. I use 'em off and on and Chris's sites have frequently been in rotation almost since he joined PSU.

Here's the ultra stupid part: he uses auto surf exchanges. No eyeballs necessary.

There's more than one rinky dink venue in auto surf exchanges.

naaaw, I should probably clarify myself. I'm not accusing Chris of a pyramid/payment type of "auto surf".

The sites I've seen his sites on are traffic exchanges which offer completely free memberships. Members can buy traffic and members who manually surf are sometimes compensated pennies. There's an option to upgrade memberships and get better ratios.

My reference to "auto surf" is the method by which the software advances to the next site. There is "manual" and "auto". Manual surf requires clicking a graphic to advance to the next site, you have to look at your monitor. Auto surf automatically advances to the next site after a certain number of seconds have passed - your presence/interaction is not required, you can be out running errands or snowboarding.

Auto surf is really only helpful in puffing up traffic to a domain. This year, for the first time, I've seen amazon, stubhub and ebay in the exchanges - not affiliates but the sites' proper. Evidently a traffic puff to maintain rank for various data collection.

It's useless traffic for a shopping site except that it allows a vendor to lie say to sellers: We have a lot of traffic and need you to hurry up and list your inventory!!

Your blog's Alexa ranking is only 88,426...his auction site is 1,556,214.  Bigger numbers are better, right? :twistedevil:

I'm undecided whether I should keep my Zen Carts or open a store on auctionsworldwide.net  Confusedtolensmiley:

SHORT TRANSLATION OF THIS POST: don't waste your time on sites like auctionsworldwide.net.  You can do much better yourself.

Ummm, if that statement was true then I'd be selling less than $10 per month. Happy001

I don't think anyone should follow the crowd to a site who's owner has publicly admitted 2 times in the past few months that his site(s) were hacked.
