AuctionQuests home page count:
Quote: Books (111,657)
http://www.auctionquests.com/index.php

Books category: add 'em up 1,537 total book listings http://www.auctionquests.com/categories.php?parent=355&show=subcats
So where are the other 110,120 books? Boinktard

Is the owner hoping the inflated listing count will help him find a buyer for the site (AGAIN)? If he is, he had better hope any prospective SUCKERS don't wander over to Compete (http://siteanalytics.compete.com/auctionquests.com/?metric=uv) or Quantcast http://www.quantcast.com/auctionquests.com

OR I hope that the owner doesn't let anyone know that he hasn't updated the bug filled and hacker heaven version 5.25 of the script since 2007.
http://www.auctionquests.com/admin/ shows the version of the script. It was updated 5 times in the past few years and I believe is now on 6.05?

Or maybe that the admin probably hasn't even logged on this year to manage the site, since the copyright notice in the footer is still dated for 2008.

Just as long as they don't stop freely giving away the IP addresses of every visitor in their stat script:
http://auctionquests.com/bbclone/show_de...php?lng=en
Scratch that, those haven't been updated since 1/16/09...

Looks abandoned to me. It may be worth $10 even with the hacker's script to inflate counts.
Auctionquests changes hands again.

Perhaps he will make the site secure, protect the bbclone stats with a password, and finally upgrade the 3 year old script to the latest, somewhat more secure 6.05. But, then again, he bought AQ, when most would have required a fee to take it off the owners hands.

2 failed and closed rinky dinks....will AQ be flop #3?

Flashback 2004, Auctionbytes forum:
AQ's new owner advertises his auction site whatabid.net and his wholesale site pricezap.com

They aren't failed and closed if you keep on recycling them every couple years:

ThriftyBidderAuctions.com running Probid version 5.11?!?!? That one is like 4 years old? Happy001 He should do a fantastic job with AQ!
My favorite kind of site owner...a boinktard who doesn't even bother to change the default email address and dummy mailing address that came with his $99 script.

The copyright date on the site is about that old too.

Thrifty Bidder Auctions

Oooh, it's an eBay and Yahoo Auctions alternative. Happy001
Thriftybidder about us Wrote:Thrifty Bidder Auctions was designed and built to provide a safe and user friendly alternative to Ebay and Yahoo Auctions.

I'll be surprised if AQ makes it back to 10,000 listings. :Smile

He upgraded today --it's now running 5.25 (the same version as AuctionQuests) and the copyright has been updated to 2007.  Happy001

Quote:protect the bbclone stats with a password

The version 0.49 script is still unprotected...

http://www.auctionquests.com/bbclone/

...which makes the site extremely vulnerable to attack because bbclone 0.49 has a highly critical unpatched security hole which allows enterprising hackers to gain system access (i.e., any info stored in the server's databases is free for the taking).

PHPProBid v5.25 also has several vulnerabilities.

Joining either of this clown's 2 probid sites is akin to emailing your personal info to a Russian hackers forum. Smile

Upgrading to a very outdated version instead of the current version earns him a spot in the Boinktard Hall of Fame.
