Quote:It's still in the back of my mind   My video gaming dedicated auction site - http://www.ChaseTheChuckwagon.com is still taking much of my time.

My other site, Vendazzle.com is also struggling since I don't have time to do it justice either. So if anyone wants to own their own site, cheap, let me know. http://www.Vendazzle.com can be yours and you can keep it running as is, or turn it into a niche site of your choosing. The Auction software is great and the guy who wrote it is very good to work with. And I can train you fully. Any takers   Oh, and it's preloaded with about 3,000 members too.

How would you feel if you registered on a site (Chuckwagon), and had your info (along with 3000 others) transferred to another site (Vendazzle) and sold for "cheap" to someone who wants to run their own site, when the admin decided he didn't want anything to do with it anymore?

Assuming I was dumb enough to register on a site that doesn't have a privacy policy, then I would feel absolutely nothing  Big Grin because registering on the site would mean I was braindead.  Big Grin

You're wrongly assuming that the average person who registers on a rink dink reads the privacy policy and TOS.  A normal business person would read a company's policies before entering into a business relationship with another company, but it's fairly obvious rinky dink users don't read them because if they did they'd run screaming and never register.  The privacy policies and TOS of the average rinky dink scream out, "this site is owned by a clueless boinktard with less experience running a business than the average 5 year old lemonade stand operator".

The primary purpose of a site's TOS and other policies is to protect the site owner's ass by spelling out the terms of the 'contract' a user is entering into when they register on the site.  99% of rinky dink policies fail miserably at either protecting the site owner or spelling out the rules for users.

Take a look at AlsoShat's TOS (http://www.alsoshop.com/terms,page,content_pages) and Plunderhere's privacy policy (http://www.plunderhere.com/content_pages...ge=privacy).  WTF are those...they sure don't resemble legal documents.  Now take a look at the policies of  a site run by a real business: Etsy's TOS (http://www.etsy.com/terms_of_use.php) and Etsy's privacy policy (Etsy is a TRUSTe member so their privacy policy is a good example of what should be included on one  http://www.etsy.com/privacy_policy.php) ...notice the difference between the rinky dink world and the real business world?  After reading the rinky dink policies, why would anyone think that registering on a site that is obviously run by a clueless boinktard would be beneficial to their business?

To answer the question, I would be pissed but I have my doubts whether the average rinky dink user (or rinky dink owner for that matter) would even notice, care, or  understand that a privacy violation had occurred.
Even AM Mikey was smart enough to add a privacy policy to his site, but that doesn't add anything to his integrity as PSU's spam king.

We will ask you when we need information that personally identifies you (personal information) or allows us to contact you. Generally this information is requested when you purchase our software packages. We use your Personal Information for four primary purposes:

    * To process and activate your order
    * To identify you
    * To help us support you and/or your Business.

According to their privacy policy if I register on Overnite Auctions I'm giving my consent to be spammed by PHP Pro Bid.  Icon_scratch :Smile

The site is 4 1/2 years old and they haven't been able to find 5 minutes during that time to fix their privacy policy? :Smile

ASS - TOS written by PHP Pro Bid.  The same TOS is used on hundreds thousands of viable Ewaey alternatives.
PH - privacy policy written in disappearing ink. 10,000 suckers signed away their life when they gave their personal info to the pride of Labuan.  Confusedtolensmiley:

The same clueless boinktard spams their site on year old threads no one cared about in the first place.

So, PHPAuction's admin comes in to add an update about his software, admits it is an old thread, but ONA chimes in with their spam. And it's ok. Really. PSU only cares about certain spammers from sites with actual life. They are the only ones who need to spam PSU for members. Like Mo. Like the fisherman. Like Mikey. Like Alex (in the day) Like every other PHPProbid site online today. If they don't spam, no one will ever sell list their 25 cent library rejects bestseller books, $2 children's underwear brand new handled by thousands on the 3 year old Walmart clearance rack, and gently soiled tried on twice undergarments.
The sale of 3000+ members info should be complete, and not a word about it on the "sister" site in it's invisible privacy policy.

Not a word about it on the WHOIS records either.  The WHOIS still lists "SoCalMike" as the registrant.
