An update announcement from BidChaser

Quote:Dear Bidchaser Members,

In the spirit of Thanksgiving, I hope this message finds you and your family in great health and spirits.

At Bidchaser, we started the migration to the Bidchaser 2.0 platform approximately three weeeks ago. I would like to provide you with an update of our schedule, and some of the future plans we have for you and our community.

1. High Performance Imaging

We have switched to a higher performance imaging system. This move has caused a few problems with older items that were scheduled for relisting. We have a team dedicated to image recovery, and will be contacting sellers that were affected by this upgrade.

This upgrade has greatly increased our capacity to process and store images in much larger sizes, quantities and formats. This is a custom system developed inhouse by our engineering "SWAT" Team, headed by Mitul and Jay.

2. End of Auction Processing

We have completely rewritten the process that handles the end of auction processing. This includes closing auctions, sending messages to sellers and buyers (and, yes, we slipped last weekend and sent a few too many relisting notices, including sellers who had selected not to receive them in their preferences - my sincere apologies).

This process also handles the automatic relists, the relist-til-sold options, as well as closed dutch actions. Please report any discrepancies to us at support@bidchaser.com. We have assigned one of our technicians to review your support emails at least 4 times a day.

3. Current Developments

Graphic Design

We have assigned our new designers, Maggie and Meenaxi, to a complete overhaul of the site's graphical interface. This is probably the most obvious change to our users. We are about halfway through the process, and will keep our designers on their toes, as I have tasked them to keep an eye out for any updates that will help the site easier and better looking. We are always open to suggestions from our members regarding the usability/navigation of the site..

System-wide Item Counts

We are currently in the process up updating the system that handles system counts, so some differences will be displayed in the site-wide counts that you see on the browse pages.

Listing/Bidding/Browse/Search

All of these systems are being phased-in, at a rate of approximately two per week, with our designers working hand-in-hand with our programmers to ensure that both the programming and look & feel of each system is improved as much as possible.

Marketing

After over a year of frustrating ventures in the areas of TV advertisement, keyword placement and a number of other traditional and not-so-traditional campaigns, we have learned quite a bit about what works and does not work.

For the immediate future, we are working on a number of strategic relationships, with companies that can bring a high number of registrations and sales to the site. One of these relationships is the recently-announced alliance with Endavo, Inc., of Salt Lake City, UT. Our thanks to Mr. Paul Hamm and Mario Pino for selecting Bidchaser as the provider of choice to power their Digital Media platform.

In addition, we'll be working with emailmaestro to deliver a number of permission-based campaigns, and on a number of guerilla-style campaigns.

The last sentence is bolded because prior Bid Chaser permission-based email campaigns have resulted in many spam complaints from recipients.  :Smile
