Quote:PRESS RELEASE:

Image of the Holy Cross Miraculously Appears Inside a Potato and Will be Auctioned off on eBay the Third Sunday of Advent.

This is NOT a Hoax! This is a true miracle! A Personal Chef in California cuts a potato in half and the symbol of a perfectly shaped holy cross appears. The holy potato will be auctioned off on eBay just a week before Christmas.

It was 7:30 PM, December 4th, 2005. The second Sunday of advent, in Joshua Tree, California. Personal Chef Karin Winkler started to prepare dinner. While thinking about upcoming Christmas, she was peeling and cutting a potato. Everything appeared to be normal. When she was peeling and cutting the second potato in half, a miracle happened: the symbol of a perfectly shaped holy cross appeared on both halves of the potato.

"I am cooking potatoes for 35 years now, but I have never seen something like this in my whole life!" Winkler said. She feels very blessed that this has happened to her and she truly believes that this is a special sign for the world to pursue peace. She sees the potato as a symbol of the world and the cutting of it's hidden cross in two perfectly shaped halves as a sign of God to love each other, be happy and unite!

...eBay very happy because of all the free publicity this type of auction generates?  I don't know which is worse: an auction like this or the "lose 80 lbs by next week" featured auctions.

This auction is now live:  http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5646122178

If you're one of the cynics who see this auction as a fast way to make a buck from suckers rather than as the true miracle it is: don't bid!

Quote:IMPORTANT MESSAGES TO ALL BIDDERS:
ONLY PLACE A BID IF YOU ARE SERIOUS!!!

We received and receive many emails regarding The FAMOUS Holy Potato and while most of them are very kind, there are others that are hostile and some even contain expressions of hate, which makes us very sad. Again, this shows only HOW divided our world really is and how important this sign of God is to us.

IF YOU ARE ONE OF THESE PERSONS, PLEASE REFRAIN FROM BIDDING!
We do understand that there are people out there that disagree with us and this is fine, and we genuinely enjoy hearing from people as long as it is forthright disagreement in a civil manner.

THIS IS A SERIOUS AUCTION AND THE WINNER WILL RECEIVE THE HOLY POTATO.

Pulled by eBay for listing violation but relisted:

The initial auction #5646122178 was pulled off by eBay after I placed an email communication with a well known Canadian based Casino on the item's auction page, because I mentioned well known media names like "Ebaumsworld", "The Register", "HalifaxLive", "The Sun Runner", "The IT.news" and "Gizmodo" in my ad.
This forced me to make changes.
I apologize to the over one thousand visitors and bidders of the initial auction for the inconvenience this might have caused you!

It must be my Catholic upbringing but we were taught that when God performs a miracle it isn't done through a grilled cheese sandwich or a potato

I can't believe people actually buy into this garbage  :Smile

Angel  Angel7
Holy crucifixion Batman. Is that a potato?

Un freaking believable is all I can say. :blinkie:
The $1700 starting bid seems very reasonable for a shriveled potato.  Smile
modern medicine can cure a shriveled potato  Laughing4
