Yawn, this is about as exciting as VeriSign's former obsession with beating Thawte (which it later bought). I prefer GeoTrust SSLs (or even Comodo) over Verisign's overpriced certificates. I also preferred Thawte.

I think every ecommerce site would benefit from getting a SSL certificate...even if they don't technically need one because they use PayPal and don't accept payments directly on the site. Buyers do look for the lock icon in their browsers and are more likely to trust an unknown ecommerce site if they see one. Think of buying an SSL certificate as the equivalent of getting positive feedback on an auction site...
Thank you, BBH, for that succinct statement of why SSL is important. Can I borrow that quote (with credit to you?)

Where would be a good place to find a very reasonable priced SSL? I doubt I will process credit cards myself (I have a b&m merchant account), but would like to provide the "security" of a lock.
I remember reading once you knew of something in the $30 range ?!!?, but you didn't name names.
Thanks
I'm using Volusion SSL. $69/yr $129/2yr $199/3yr
