Quote:What an appropriate ending for a great year. The domain market spent 2005 on an upward trajectory that continued  right through the final week of the year when a trio of hefty six-figure sales sent the business into orbit. Earth.com  changed hands for $800,000 to land among the three biggest sales reported this year. Annuity.com also earned a spot in 2005's Top Ten after going for $600,000 and Sharks.com  devoured another $140,000 to help close the books on an unforgettable year.

Smileybankerconfused Good question.  The pool.com name sale price was extremely low in comparison to the (ridiculously high) prices similar names (like fish.com) have gone for recently.

Yes it did.  3 years ago we let over 200 domain names expire because domain name prices had fallen so low and we didn't think it would be worth it to renew the names at $15-$35 per renewal...now I could kick myself for letting the names go  Crybaby2 Smileyyellowbang

The domain name frenzy in 2005 reminded me of early 2000....well with one noticeable difference: in 2000 we were making money auctioning names off on Afternic and this year we didn't have any names to sell and didn't make a cent because like idiots we let over 200 names expire 3 years ago (did I mention that already).  Crybaby2 Crybaby2 Crybaby2
