How did I miss this news? A member of PeSA's Board of Directors, the group that is the self -proclaimed "Elite" of eBay, hiding feedback comments with Private Feedback?  Shocking!

Thumbsup

Sure makes me want to rush over and "buy" something from someone who hides
their feedback.

2 more members of "The eBay Elite" reach milestones.

Tongue2 1. GlacierBayDVD who briefly held the top feedback rating on eBay last summer has been NARU'd.  100s of recent complaints by buyers who paid but didn't receive their merchandise.  Quote from bargainbloodhound:

bargainbloodhound Wrote:Think back to the Ethical tool discussions of last summer. Using "The Tool" was the only thing keeping Glacier Bay on eBay and profitable. When Vendio and everyone else introduced competing tools I'm sure it hit Glacier's thin margins.

GlacierBayDVD was the 5th eBay seller with a feedback rating of over 100,000 to be NARU'd in the past year: others were BuyEssex, Onando, TotalCampus.com, and Mombocom

Tongue2 2. bargaindepot04 recently achieved the dubious distinction of becoming the 5th eBay member to receive negative feedbacks from 10,000 different buyers.

PS:  The top 25 negative chart has been updated Smile
GlacierBay put up a blank index.html page to hide their web site, but the site is still there and fully stocked

Quote:GlacierBayDVD is the highest rated seller in all of eBay and  Number One in sales of entertainment related products.

View our eBay feedback...

My guess would be eBay's fees killed them because they didn't play the "start the bids at 99 cents" fee avoidance game like some sellers...

They were a BuySafe bonded seller so the buyers should be covered for their losses by BuySafe...of course 99% of the buyers are probably unaware that they can file a claim with BuySafe.
Auctionbytes article on the NARU'd GlacierBay:

Quote:An article in the June 22, 2005, issue of the Wall Street Journal outlined some of the challenges eBay sellers were facing, and stated that one seller in the CD and DVD category believed eBay shoppers were "looking for unreasonable bargains"

An eBay seller wrote to AuctionBytes about Glacier Bay DVD and said, "This is huge tragedy in our eBay Community, when one of the biggest eBayers with their stature, disappears and leaves a trail of Negs and crying victims."

Was their ASP really this high?

Selling under the name glacierbaydvd, the company was listing 10,000 - 20,000 auctions a week and was a Titanium PowerSeller with an average selling price of $20/unit.
