Quote:Mono to Be Included in Fedora Core 5

The Mono open-source development platform based on .Net will be in the next version of the Fedora core Linux distribution.

Mono is a project led by Novell to deliver a set of .Net compatible tools, including a C# compiler and a Common Language Runtime.

In addition, de Icaza said Mono users should look into some of the "tasty new languages" Mono supports, including Boo, IronPython and Nemerle.

I'm not tryin' it, you try it.
Nuh uh, I'm not tryin' it, you try it.
Hey, let's get Mikey to try it!
Yeah, he'll try any OS!

I'm not trying it yet either...especially the Apache 2.2 and mySQL 5.0 parts of it.  We're just getting around to finally retiring our last server running Apache 1.3.x/mySQL 3.23.x and moving that server to Core 4/Apache 2.0/mySQL 4.1.  I prefer stability over running a still largely untested release in order to immediately having the latest features.

A review of Fedora Core 5:

Quote:I was never a Fedora fan myself. I started using Slackware Linux, then I got addicted to the Debian APT package management and I finally ended up running Kubuntu. I never paid too much attention to what was going on in Fedora. In fact, the last release I tried was Fedora Core 1. So I didn't have much expectations about "Bordeaux", even though I got more and more excited over the release after I had talked to some people from the Fedora community. I have to say though: this distribution impressed me in a way that no other distribution did before. Some things should of course be improved, such as the automatic hardware detection or, as mentioned above, the menus. But apart from these little details I can confidently say that Fedora Core 5 is the best desktop GNU/Linux distribution available at the moment...
