Overstock is adding a free 'wanted items' feature.  The 'wanted item' posts will be on the message boards not in the regular listings or search.

Quote:Are you looking to buy something in particular but haven't found any listed for sale?

The "Wanted!" Forum allows buyers to let sellers know what they are looking for. Wanted posts are allowed only within this forum. The following rules and procedures must be adhered to by both buyers and sellers. Failure to comply will result in warnings and/or forfeiture of rights to participate.
Note: There is no obligation for a buyer to purchase from any seller who responds to their Wanted post. Obligation to purchase is only determined by a winning bid placed on an auction.

Instructions for Buyers:

1. Within the "Wanted!" Forum, click on "New Topic" in the upper or lower corner. In the subject line, name the item you are looking for.

2. In the message body field, describe the item you are looking for with as much detail as possible so that sellers can easily determine if they have a good match for you. You may include a picture(s) of the item as long as you are hosting the picture(s) and are not violating any copyrights.

3. Your post will remain for 30 days from the date it is originally posted, after which it will be automatically deleted by the sytem. You may not post duplicate requests for the same item or attempt to "bump" your request back to the top by replying to your own post.

Instructions for Sellers:

If you see a Wanted item that you currently have listed for auction, you may reply to the Wanted post, including the auction number and/or a direct link to the listing on Overstock.com Auctions.

*You may not solicit the buyer by means of Private Message, direct email or through the "Ask xxxxx a question" link on their homepage.

*You may not reply to Wanted Ads with links to, or information about offsite sales of the product sought.

*You may not post information about other unrelated auctions you have listed.

*You may not post in reference to future auctions you intend to list; the auction must be already active at the time of your reply to the Wanted post.

The figures above are the total number of people currently visiting Overstock's message boards. Sooo...basically if you post a wanted ad on the new wanted forum on their message boards verrrrry few people will see your ad.

Yells to Overstock: "Why are you putting wanted ads on the message board instead of integrating them with the main auction listings?"
