Quote:To better show consumers how they can cash in their stuff on eBay, QuikDrop International launched a national cable TV campaign yesterday with two 30-second spots aimed separately at men and women.

Costa Mesa, CA-based QuikDrop, which also uses Internet marketing and local and regional print and broadcast advertising, launched the national TV campaign to better explain to its targeted audience of 35- to 55-year-old consumers the ease and value of selling their old skis and golf clubs on eBay.com.

QuikDrop charges a very high fee to sell your items.  Smile

Quote:The basic plan includes:

7 Day listing on eBay, Gallery photo on all listings, BOLD title for more exposure.

The fees are calculated from the selling price:

38% of the first $200
30% of the next $300
20% of the remaining (over $500)

The above fees DO NOT include the eBay listing fees, 2.9% payment processing fees, and DO NOT include shipping, packaging and insurance fees (usually paid for by the buyer). Sales tax may be charged where applicable. All items not sold and not picked up within 15 days will be donated to charity.

Similar to a pawn shop?

Similar to a pawn shop?
[/quote]

The amount you receive if the item sells is probably similar to what you'd receive in a pawn shop because eBay's trading assistants (drop shops are glorified trading assistants) take a very large cut.  This is from QuikDrop's 'sample listing' chart:

Item sells for $100.00
eBay fees $5.07
QuikDrop commission: $38.00
-----------------------
You receive $56.93

But then the eBay listing fees (including for gallery and BOLD) as well as the 2.9% PP fee still have to come out of the owner's cut.

Leaving the owner with about 50 cents on the dollar . . . .

Quote:the 2.9% PP fee

Something tells me QuikDrop pays PayPal's lowest 1.9% rate not the 2.9% payment processing fee they're deducting from the sale amount.
