Quote:ONLINE scammers are exploiting the same routes to market as legitimate businesses, damaging individuals and companies that trade fairly, an international survey on consumer fraud complaints shows.

"When you think that some of these scammers are hiring people who have business degrees, and psychologists, you realise you are up against very sophisticated criminals," the Canadian Competition Bureau told a review by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development.

"One of the challenges we face is that often they are not viewed as being serious criminals, but in reality they are thieves in nice clothing."
