***eBays 10th Anniversary - A Thank You from Meg Whitman***

Meg Whitman
This weekend marks our official 10th anniversary. On Labor Day weekend in 1995, Pierre Omidyar wrote the code for AuctionWeb, which would soon become eBay.
What a tremendous decade it's been! It's hard to imagine what the world would be like had Pierre spent that weekend doing something else.
And it's equally hard to imagine what eBay would be like without the passion, commitment and ingenuity of eBay members around the world. You took an idea that many dismissed as naïve, and you ran with it. You trusted one another you pushed eBay in exciting new directions and you spread the word.
Today, eBay is more than an e-commerce destination, and more than an online community. Together, we've built something historic and important. We've truly made the world a better place, and that's something few can say.
Also, on behalf of everyone here at PayPal and eBay, I would like to extend our sympathy and prayers to those impacted by Hurricane Katrina. We urge you to be patient with trading partners residing in the affected areas. For more information on ways you can donate to relief efforts on eBay, please see our previous announcement.
Thank you for being a part of the eBay Community. And Happy 10th Anniversary!
Sincerely,
Meg
