Marketplace and zShops do well because the items are in general search... so to speak.  Auctions aren't advertised at all!  I just happend to stumble upon them about a year or so ago. 
I wonder if auctions would do better if people knew they existed... since Amazon has a MUCH better reputation then eBay?
