One more .......oops I forgot........the one thing I don't like about a store, is the FVF is double! :o

Yes, but you sell your item at YOUR price, and listing is less. The bottom line is what goes into your pocket. If you sell an item for $10 at auction, eBay gets a minumum of 73 cents (commission plus listing at 99 cents). That's assuming the item sells the first time around. Your net is $7.27. Sell the same item for $20 in the store and eBay gets $2.05 (commission plus listing). Your net is $17.95. Store sales are where I pay my rent, not auctions.
BTW: It was this type of logic that KaRay labeled "eBay think" and then went into some tyrade canned speech about the glories of WP's Smart Sell program. What it costs in fees means nothing. What matters is what goes into your pocket. If you list a widget for $10/mo under "Smart Sell" and it sells for $10, you've made nothing. If you list a widget for $1000 and it sells for $2000, you've put $1000 in your pocket. As someone who needs to make a living, I'd choose "scenario #2" any day. By the way, my similar post was deleted on WP.Â

OMG DB... I REMEMBER that post!!!!!!!!!!!!! THAT was the post that made me see the light!!! OMG!! EERIE!!!! YAY!! :turkey2:
DB - Gotcha - as usual....thanx so much. Â One more forgot thing and I have to go get 4 packages ready, the mailman is down the street........looking at what you said about the calendars as an example.....you suggested collectibles under animals or toys & games.....I have them listed under Collectibles > Postcards & Paper > Calendars > 1960-Now. Â So there's a separate part under animals? Â I'll have to research that one and also look into the toys and games one. Â I'll be back on later. Â

While at WP, I once likened waiting for WP's advertising campaign to unfold akin to "Waiting for Godot." You can imagine how well-received my post was by KaRay and the WP Koolaid-drugged brethren.
That last one was a newer ghost store that dropped into obscurity:

My last capture of all stores was 4 days ago. Since then, starting with scoop's, 9 stores have disappeared with a combined total of just over 1,100 listings. One of these sellers dumped listings and put their store on hold for medical reasons. I think the 3-2 ratio is gaining momentum.Â

Seller was probably going into a deep depression and having a nervous breakdown fromÂ
after months of of being force-fed Koolaid. I wonder if the cost of therapy can be deducted as a business expense.
NJR,
I want to wish you all the success in this world with your new adventures. I agree with DB about your cross stitch kits. Based on your asking price, the fees on ebay will eat heavily into your bottom line. I would check with etsy first, I have seen crochet kits on the site, but they have been changing their terms. If not I would certainly give them a go on ecrater. If a buyer pays you with google checkout on ecrater you have zero fees. Even with paypal you are still way ahead of ebay. I don't know what your cost is per item, but with Ebay selling items under 9.99 now, even if your cost for the item is zero, just isn't a good business move even if you put it in a store. The fees are too high, and apparently ebay is attempting to rid the site of lower price items.
I bought my calendars in January at Hobby Lobby, and they were marked down to a dollar. However just like other peeps said some folks do buy them for the pictures.
Also the lighting for your pictures is important. I am going to post a link for you of an item I am going to have my hubby make for me. This might help you with your photos.

Don't hesitate to check out Auctiva. You won't have to mess with turbo lister (which I hated). It provides picture hosting, templates, and you can fill out the SYI form all in one spot.
In fairness to the 'medical reasons' seller DB they stated they were going in for major surgery. With an estimate of recovery time being six weeks. I know we've heard this before as a face-saving reason to disappear but it could be legit. Time will reveal all.Â
