Sorry Karen, but I have to disagree too. Malls and Websites are like comparing apples and oranges.
Unlike like a mall which is easily seen when you drive by it daily on your way to work, eat or go to Grandma's house, websites are not that visible. They have two choices: 1) Become so well known via word of mouth that people go looking for you (which generally only works for multi-million dollar companies who advertise on TV); or 2) Put yourself out in plain view until you're well known.
The Web is not equal footing for all vendors. Bottom line...the spoils go to the site with the best search engine rankings. That's how buyers find you. That's why experts in the field of SEO makes thousands of dollars daily. Whoever is on page one or two in Google and Yahoo's search results wins. All other pages fall much further back in the race. If this wasn't true, if it were all equal like you say...then there would be no need for Search engine optimization period.

The rscript software is NOT an open script software package.
Ray get this straight for the last time your boxed software is what it is, limited in what you can and can't do. Because you are running a boxed software WP will never be much different then any other auction site that runs the same software. Wait Ray I stand corrected, what makes WP different from all the other auction sites out there now?
Here's my answer:
WP is run by a complete idiot who's only concern is what is going in his pocket. All the CC1 posts over the past 2 days prove without a shadow of a doubt that WP's only concern is for how many sellers are paying there $9.95 a month. None of the posts by Ka/Ray address the lack of buyers for the sellers. When was the last time someone posted in the bidding/buying threads? I think it has been stuck on 85 posts since what November or so.
To the WP sellers:
Dump your listings now and leave that BA**ARD's site. Don't pay him a dime for all your hard work. Screw him like he did to thousands the first time and thousands more this time. If there is anyone who deserves to loose everything it's Ray.

Bill be very very quiet posting the techie stuff, cuz Ray has a nasty little habit of lurking on TT, and the next thing you know your words will be posted to explain the next outage on the pop.

Ok so we'll give hime something a little more realistic to use.
Attention Wagglepoppers,
unfortunately our site has gone down {AGAIN}. This time we are lucky, it wasn't a "down-stream" server. Ray and Mr.Snokems (the stuffed teddy) were playing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and accidentally knocked over the Legos, um I mean server which caused the crap, um i mean dynamic dedicated server array to fail. Sorry for the interuption. We are working on correcting the problem, but do not have enough funds.
That is all.

xxxxxCat,
Actually, we are in full and total agreement
What you are referring to is competitive actions and optimizations, like advertising and/or search engine placement, either paid or organic. That's about optimization and exposure, and exposure is different from opportunity or availability.
The opportunity the Web represents is open and equal to everyone, and exposure can be obtained based on that open availability.
There is no governing Web authority that says who can advertise and who can rank, and as such, it is equally available to anyone who sees fit to optimize for that.
What individual or companies do with that opportunity and availability is market and cost driven, or organically obtained.
But the opportunity itself is open and available to everyone and anyone
