Quote:Well than there are alot of sellers out there who can't read nor understand the TOS of those sites.
Hey, it's not rocket science. If you can't understand a TOS, which is essentially a very simplistic legal document, then you should certainly ask for help in understanding it. Ignorance does not excuse you from adhering to legal terms that you agree to adhere to before you sign up on any site. :
Ladyrock, you might want to read this chronology of Wagglepop v.1:

It will give you an accurate picture of the kind of guy that Ray is and how he conducts business. You won't get that on the WP boards.

The other point is that when you spam a community based site like Craigslist or MySpace you generate as much, if not more, negative reactions and word of mouth for your business from its users as you do positive word of mouth. Viral marketing works if you do it correctly but attempting to create a buzz through spam always backfires.
Actually, it worked just fine for WP-1. The time was ripe.
However, because of that ultra-fiasco, WP-2 board-spamming or site-spamming will reap only basic laughter now, and ill-will eventually.
Quote:four items that good viral marketing campaigns share:
  * Entertainment: the marketing is entertaining.
  * Utility: what is being marketed is something the reader can use.
  * Palpable reward: the marketing provides instant gratification.
  * Uniqueness: the marketing is like nothing the reader has ever seen.

Entertainment- the WP MYSpace/Craigslist marketing FAILS this test
Utility-PASSES if the reader buys
Palpable reward- WP marketing on MySpace/Craigslist receives a D or D- because it requires registration at another site. Craigslist and MySpace (through MySpace Classifieds) provide the means to sell directly on site. Why would users want to go somewhere else to buy?
Uniqueness-FAILS. There is nothing unique being offered. WP is not unique. The average Craigslist user doesn't give a damn about eBay or what it does or doesn't do. Therefore using the sales pitch 'WP is different than eBay' is pointless when targeting this audience.
Final grade: WP's Craigslist/MySpace viral marketing attempt receives a D or D- .

Did it? It attracted 5000 of eBay's 78 million active users. This year 6000 in 4 months. Bidville has 150X more registered users than WP. If WP is building a competitor to eBay they aren't doing a good job of recruiting the user numbers they need.
An example of a viral protest campaign that worked was last week's Facebook campaign that attracted 700,000 in hours.
