, Pet Guy. Are you a seller on WP?
This was a MAJOR concern to me, as well. From my customer's point of view, I was afraid of appearing like a total idiot for aligning myself with fly-by-night sites with boinktards as owners. Frankly, it was embarrassing, as this reflected poorly on me. The way Karen treated a couple of my buyers made me want to hide in the corner with my tail tucked between my legs. I did announce my presence on HiBidder to a few, but now I'm even considering NOT telling my buyers about my eCrater store, but rather lay low, avoid the radar and see how it develops. I'm beginning to think the only REAL alternative to eBay is having an independent web site. And even if I knew enough to put one together, I don't have the expertise to know how to properly promote it. I'm still trying to figure out what an RSS feed is. Maybe some enterprising soul here at TT will come up with "Web-Site-in-a-Box", the step-by-step video guide for putting a site together and promoting it for the complete, blithering idiot. It would be hosted by TT, of course.
Oh, and Ray, I noticed your boards these days are as lack-luster as yesterday's mashed potatoes. No complaints, no cheers, no discussion, NOTHING. Seems sellers are just too tired to bother, and since it's verboden to talk about no sales, there's not much to say.

Quote:Mid 2005: I stopped dragging my customers from venue to venue. It was hurting my reputation. I'd get them to buy from me somewhere, they'd go back weeks/months later and the place would be gone. I'd get a "...what happened to the site?" note and feel pretty stupid for having suggested they join, especially when the next note was, "...what happened to my account information?" Bad for me and bad for the alternatives, to have security questions dangling.
