Yes they did. Tell me how does wp advertise and show me where to find the advertisements. Not counting pop-ups or spam mail

I don't know and don't care about advertising (don't think that any kind of effective advertising would be affordable for a site the size of WP). I think that they should first focus effort on something far more important which is instant checkout. Nobody cares what I think though. That's okay.

Actually, advertising for a site the size of WP would be a very profitable idea. They will need traffic through the site or else the stores will end up de-listing and closing. The owner, I believe this ray guy yo mention, is not doing his "customers", the people setting up stores, any service as a host if they can not get the traffic to sell their items. It is sad that people are amazed that someone gets more than 100 hits on their listing. As far as doing pop3 and pop up advertisement... that is a horrible way to go as most people block pop-ups and spam email.

Safe bet that you would change your mind if you owned an auction site (other than eBay) and got to experience how much advertising costs vs. the results that it generates. It's extremely more difficult than for individual sellers to advertise their own websites or stores.
edited to add: a couple more good posts might get my karma all the way up to -100Â

Exactly, because that 9.95 you give Ray, is better spent promoting your own site, or spending on promotion of a free store like ecrater. I mean if you have to do all the work, why on earth pay a venue that has lost the majority of its sellers, and all the inventory that left when they did.

A smart seller could have and promote their own site if they chose to AND sell on eCrater AND sell on WP for $9.95/month (which is nearly free in the grand scheme of most sellers' business expenses). There's no need to limit your potential by cutting WP out of the picture, and certainly no need to sling crap at WP for giving sellers another option to grow their businesses.

Are you reasoning with your eyes open... or are you just like.... using the force?
I gave my $10 a month to the Ray monster... now I use that money for google adwords and other sources of traffic... I have no interest in giving a venue that's sinking with each passing day any money... it's a waste.
No one agrees with you here... I think it's time for you to crawl back in your hole troll...
I think I hear Lawrence Welk in the background singing...
Goodnight, sleep tight and pleasant dreams to you, make a wish and say a prayer, may all your dreams come true and now til we meet again..... goodbye, adios, auchwiedersien....
GOODNIGHT!
Anyone remember that song??

why in goods name would you be so supportive of such a cruel person that has hurt many people on this board?? Pitiful.
Anyone on this board who thinks that they were "hurt" by being given the opportunity to sell on WP only hurt themselves. And yes, it is downright pitiful.
User391 the only opportunity on WP is the opportunity to pay Ray the fees every month and get nothing in return. Â I did not hurt myself by leaving WP. Â In fact I think it was the right thing to do. Â I'm getting more traffic at the sites I list at now and more sales. Â The best part there are no fees. Â So I consider myself much better off. Â There are more sellers here who have also done better on other sites or on their own websites since leaving WP. Â
There is no potential at WP Ray has seen to that with his policy of banning sellers who are also potential buyers. Â Do you think any of the 700+ stores that closed will ever come back. Â No most of them will never come back. Â The list goes on and on with ways Ray has made sure of this. To name a few board policy, phone verification, unable to keep accout when closing a store you need to sign up again, holding back on features that he could implement now if he wanted to, treating his
customers in an unbusiness like manner and so on.
I wouldn't hold my breath if I were you waiting for that instant checkout. Â Â
Platz,
Yep, I remember the Lawrence Welk song.

Plenty of reasons to sling crap at WP. Once I found out what Ray is all about, he couldn't PAY ME to stay, let alone PAY HIM for the privilege of being there. I was ashamed and embarrassed to have my good name and reputation remotely associated with that Â
He's a liar and a hypocrite, and I was not going to part of his cultist, self-righteous, egocentric game. Limiting MY potential? Potential for being and doing what? To be used, abused and treated like a 2-year-old should I have an independent thought? If that's your idea of good business, then by all means, go for it.
