Lur-Kist,
Would you care to explain your avatar? As an animal lover, I find it a bit disturbing.

No not really. But I will...
It was a joke email I received once and I thought it was cute that an obviously very young kitten would hold his hands up long enough for someone to take a picture of it.Â
Perhaps you'd like to know that the current avatar is my newest pet, strayed up this winter pregnant. I paid big dollars 5 weeks ago to take her to the vet on a Friday evening to have a c-section when she couldn't have #5. I've taken countless kittens and mommas and strays and fed them and found them homes. I currently feed at least 3 cats who won't come near me but they come to eat.
I don't sit around and shoot cats, birds, or any other living animals. Insects are another story. But hey, if you really want, I could send you some. Â
Did I mention, I have a nice sized bat house?

Lur-Kist, I truly hope you take this in the spirit that I'm attempting to convey and not as a put down. That little kitten has been on the net for years in various forms of photo-manipulation - that same image is also portrayed as sitting there on the same window sill playing a banjo.
Animal rescuers and lovers do find those manipulations very offensive - though animals think and feel, they have no voice except through us. When we see images such as that one, we die a thousand deaths. Violence towards animals is rampant world-wide and, of course, we feel that we must speak out. Violence has no place in jokes - rather it be human or animal.
