Thought y'all could appreciate this one -- from a recent post on PSU:
Quote: I watched Oprah this week or last, and they were talking with folks who had escaped from the recently invaded religious complex in TX. As I don't want to discuss religion or religious beliefs, I'm intentionally being vague about 'this incident', but I'm certain all know what I'm talking about.
Any way, they had an expert on the show who has spent 20-30 years studying cults, the mindset, the manipulation, the mentality, etc. - of both the leader and the followers.
Oprah asked straight out if he viewed this situation as a 'cult'. The expert, very cautiously and with the utmost respect suggested that he did not want to offend anyone's religious beliefs, but that all the signs of a cult were present.
He went through 3-5 of these characteristics, and after the 2nd - WP jumped into my brain. I sat there, listened to him and could not even relate his statements to the show's subject - all that was in my head was WP....
OMG! Another XPopper who doesn't even know us is using the "C" word!

Another common practice on eBay alternative auction sites that hurts sellers and chases buyers away: b.itch about eBay on your store pages and auction listings:

Oh how true. A sob story related by a 'victim', be it one from eBay, Health Care, hell life in general is too much information. We all have experiences we could relate. But they don't hold the weight of a fat flying fart in the business world. Keep the 2 separate and you have a stab at success.

Ray will no more be "in the trenches" as our President is "in the trenches" in Iraq with our servicemen. Ray will have no skin in the game - it won't cost him $29.95 per month to list with the rest of the faithful.
He will also have the benefit of the search reports, leading him down the primrose path of what the WP "buyers" are searching for on the site. AndRay refused to share that information with the faithful last month and instead pointed the forum users to E-bay's Pulse report for the most searched for items.

Bolding mine:
That is brilliantÂ
Which one of us spent a month or so plugging in different floor mats into the WP search knowing boinktard Ray would list 20,000 variations that would never sell to cover all the bases?
Ok, I like this plan. We can control the dropship items Ray sells just by searching for junk that will never sellÂ
I'm gonna take toilet brushes, Sherrand maybe you can start plugging in pooper scoopers, DB you might want to try plungers, BBH maybe you can handle "upstream" bottled water, Sneaky maybe you should search for dropshipping secrets and how to's. Anyone else want to help the revolution by searching for items with the lowest STR's in the OAI?

I'll take mag cut-outs of my favorite all-stars in the quadrapalegic wrestling championship. (better get going on that one, Ray)

Must be posting under a different sock puppet.

Ditto. That kind of whine in a store description or "me" page turns me totally off. Might as well be saying, "We're so desparate, we'll go to any port in a storm to get away from eBay -- even this goddawful, piss-poor, stupid excuse for a sales venue." If Ray REALLY wants to do away with "negativity", he should start by deleting his own sellers' whines on eBay. More HYPOCRICY.
Thanks for the welcomeÂ
I wish I found this forum before I spent 3 months on the site!

Can I be appointed the Used Pink Fuzzy Slipper search? Â
Ray could list his used slippers once a month.Â
Maybe the 'well worn sock' buyers from e-bay will stop by and start purchasing from his site.
BEyedB
I would like to take the hamster wheels if they are still available
I am having a hard decision deciding what I want my search to be... fuzzy pink bathrobes? Unrecyclable styrofoam containers? Abalone encrusted watches? The list just goes on and on...

Your efforts continue to epitomize everything an online seller can achieve and be through patient vision, hard work, and dedication to business plans and goals.
We look forward to your continued participation and "leadership by example" as we transition away from our "eBay roots" towards a more modern and effective 21st century marketplace.

Popper Wrote:I too look forward to the Wagglepop of the future. I have been revamping and expanding my store in preparation for the upcoming changes. I believe that the WP Marketshare will bring buyers to WP and we all will benefit so much from your insightful vision!
I am so excited to be a part of this new venture - and like a kid at Christmas I can't wait until the changes unfold and we get to see them for ourselves

I would like to urge anyone who is thinking about leaving WP, to re-think it! Now is not the time to pull up stakes and leave a place that you have already established some ground with........
AndRay Wrote:Full Blown Cult Member,
Good to hear you have been benefitting from the ever increasing marketplace dynamics - the percentage of sales relative to the overall number of listings has tracked consistently as increasing and has never been higher......
For sellers with quality "in demand" items and products, the combination of "unlimited listing and selling" under SSE along with the BusinessBuilder Advanced Selling Tools in a fixed cost enviroment may represent the single greatest business opportunity there is today for small business owners, online or off.
WHINE TIME!Â
AndRay Wrote:There will not be any appreciable application changes to Wagglepop beyond beta introduction of the new display set and introduction gradually of the Wagglepop Marketshare item and product portals.
SSE represents a philosophical change, away from underwriting so heavily the cost of participation (for what we thought would help eBay sellers to support their own competitive auction site) to direct support of our actual dedicated seller base.
Our focus now is to restructure as an item and product rich retail site that fufills the shopping needs of the general online shopper - the opportunity the larger online selling community rejected the past two years (either by disinterest, "dabbling", or bad faith default) we intend to capitalize on ourselves as merchants within the Wagglepop Marketplace.
In doing so, we are honored to join our core merchants in our ongoing effort to represent the very best of what online buying and selling can be.
