I remember a WP thread and cleverly posted in it were "tips" on how to spam on Craig's List without getting caught. One of the "advisers" was our WP head cheerleader friend SB, who spammed on Craig's regularly, as did others. Later, another Popper came on the WP boards to lament that he had been Nard'd from Craig's for spamming, and in doing some investigation, I discovered he learned all his tricks of the trade from our friend SB.
SB himself was trying to get into Craig's "hall of fame" by being voted in as "Best Aritst/Photographer" on Craig's. He posted his brains out on WP, pleading for Poppers to jam the vote lines. Poppers chimed in, some saying that they were setting their alarm clocks to go off every hour on the hour 24/7, so they could log on Craig's and vote at least 24 times a day. I even received a spam eMail with a direct vote link. There was no indication in the email that clicking the link placed a vote. I couldn't believe Mr. Kumbaya was spamming ME, asking for my vote, after calling ME a liar and a cheat on the WP boards. WHAT NERVE! I even posted the email here without thinking some here might not know that clicking on the link would cause a vote. Thankfully, another TTer CLARIFIED that issue.
Well, Mr. Kumbaya was Naru'd for "improprieties" in his campaign, and disqualified. He didn't have the nerve to come out and say exactly what he did, and has more or less been flying low to avoid the radar since. He later came on the boards here trying to defend himself, and claimed he never sent me a spam email, only sent emails to some friends and relatives, so must have been one of MY Popper friends, who had my email address, who sent it -- a ridiculous assumption, considering all my friends on WP held him in low regard and WOULD NEVER IN A MILLION YEARS have spammed me on his behalf. The only explanation (if, indeed he DID NOT personally send me the spam), was Ray himself spamming me (as he and Ray are tight, as evidenced by Kumbaya's place of honor as the featured seller (cheeleader) on the WP newsletter, which coincidentally appeared at the time of the campaign), Ray allowing SB use of his sellers' emails lists on his account data, or somehow Mr. Kumbaby managed to get the email lists from Craig's, as I was a member there, and simply sent a bulk spam to members willynilly that way.
It's all part of the "unconventional avenues" in advertising that makes up the WP promotional agenda.
As an aside, I once checked SB's buy/sell activity as a Popper. I discovered that one of the books he had purchased from another seller was entltled something like "Complete Idiot's Guide to Photogphy."Â Â
