You think websites are bad...try setting up a blog! :blinkie:
I installed one last night, *tried* to read the directions -which were written in some foreign language 'cause I didn't understand one word they said - and just closed the browser window.
Haven't been brave enough to even look at it again today. :blinkie:

Oh you should visit the WP boards. But make sure you take a barf bag...
River you are a sharp cookie, so I know you will figure out that blog in no time.
Once you figure it out, someday you can teach me. :blinkie:
I don't want to see the WP forum, it is really sad to see people who are getting their hopes up.

I can't read more than two or three threads because it makes me physically ill...literally! Those sellers are so hopeful and convinced that Karen/Ray and WP is the greatest thing since sliced bread. Â
I just can't watch another group of hardworking sellers go through this again. I will be staying away from the threads for a while. I wonder if I will have the heart to go back after the big grand opening. Those who will be sorely disappointed and broke will not be allowed to share their feelings while the few that may do well will be announcing big sales.
While I wish everyone success, my thoughts are with the little guys right now as they work their fingers to the bone listing and tweaking their stores. Since the grand opening is supposed to last for six months, they will keep paying for those showcase and featured stores. They will work harder when they are told they are not working hard enough.
This really makes me sick.

It truly is nauseating.
I get images of Ray-Moses parting the sea and leading his "chosen" people out of the land of Feebay and into the Promised Land of Boinktardia -- like sheep going to a slaughter house. This blind loyalty and devotion based on nothing but empty promises is one of the basic precepts of cultist behavior. But as Hitler said, "the bigger the lie, the more likely people are to believe it."

Which one are you using Rat? I've been through Blogger, Moveable Type and now I use WordPress. I might be able to help. PM or send me an email if you want.

Lol... as sad as it is, it's so true. Even though we've discussed the 'cult' theory many times, it still gives me the creeps when I think about the similarities.
Maybe this is a stupid question, but I don't know much about "cult think". At what point do the faithful begin to question their leader? Or don't they? Seriously, what hope is there for someone completely involved in that type of situation and/or what series of events would need to take place to shake them out of that mindset?
Just curious because I see some (like us) who were there and held up our pompoms for a brief time and found it fairly easy to walk away from what we found to be a bad situation. Then there are those still there that have seen the EXACT same things we have but their interpretation of events is completely different. So what does it take to break that?
Edited because I don't know if there is such a thing as a run-on paragraph - but that was!
eclectica,
I don't have the technical reasoning behind a cult, but I had a family member become part of a religious cult.
In this case, the person was a part for 9 years. The reasons behind it were that this person was lonely and was looking for a place to belong. The leaders saw this, offered friendship at first and promised that they would be the new "family". We were family, but our family had rules of conduct and we were taught that no person was better than another.
In this person's need for attention, they turned to a place where they were a "chosen one". After 9 years of emotional and physical abuse, this person came back to the family that really cared.
Flattery, promises of success beyond others, attention, constant praise.....it can seem very attractive to someone with little or no self-esteem or to someone who feels that they are a little fish in a big pond.Â
