Dear Amazon.com Sellers,

Effective August 1, 2006, Amazon.com will change the variable closing fees and shipping credits for Books, Music, Video, DVD, Software and Video Game sales. These changes do not affect commission rates for Marketplace sales or the $0.99 closing fee charged to non-Pro Merchant sellers.

A full list of the changes compared with today’s rates is below. Here is a short summary of the changes:

1. A $1.20 closing fee will apply to all Books, Video Games and Software sales.

Note: This fee currently varies depending on the shipping method the buyer selected.

2. A $0.70 closing fee will apply to all Music, DVD and VHS sales.

Note: This fee currently varies depending on the shipping method the buyer selected.

3. The domestic expedited shipping credit for Books, Video Games and Software will increase from $5.49 to $5.99.

4. For Music, DVD and VHS sales, the domestic standard shipping credit will increase from $2.49 to $2.59, and the domestic expedited shipping credit will decrease from $4.99 to $4.59.

From the Amazon boards.  The effect on booksellers.  Booksellers gain 3 cents on standard shipping but will receive less for expedited and international orders.

We will be making one additional change to shipping credits which will impact Books sales with the international shipping option.  We will be increasing the shipping credit for international Books sales from $9.79 to $9.98.  An updated chart displaying the new shipping credits is available below.
