ebay responses:

advertising eBay stores:

Quote:In response to #1, we have already begun promoting a "Shop eBay Stores" message through banner ads targeting buyer related sites. We will also be promoting "Shop eBay Stores" in an upcoming buyer newsletter this quarter as well as launching a education campaign for buyers to learn about why they should shop eBay Stores and incent them to make a purchase (or multiple purchases) from any Store seller (we will tell them to look for the door icon and also drive them to the Stores hub).

store enhancements:

Quote:For eBay Stores we are trying to keep the changes to minimum towards the end of the year -- less than in the last couple of years.

We are working on some improvements to the Send to Online Auction and Bulk Edit flows (from MyeBay). This will launch this summer so will not disrupt your key selling season.

the recent large drop in search engine ranking positions of many ebay stores:

Quote:Re #2 concerning natural search rankings for storefront pages

The larger search engines do change how they rank pages from time to time. The recent changes at Google did represent a larger than usual change in their algorithm which we are continuing to investigate. As you could expect, the search engines guard their algorithm fairly closely so we are having to do a larger amount of testing to uncover how best to optimize ebay pages to best represent your stores.

Believe me when I say that this is a major priority for us and we do have several people working almost exclusively on this issue. Unfortunately, I do not have any more details that I can share at this point. We do recognize the issue and are committed to doing our best to help stores rank well in all major search engines.

ebay addresses a customer complaint about ebay stores and its employees attitudes

Quote:Regarding your post #2

"eBay stores are a sloppy and shameful affair. Of course, since only a few hundred store owners take the time to post here, we suppose that eBay doesn’t really care about what we think or want. Overall, U. S. store subscription fees only add up to a bit over $3 million per month, and the representation in this forum only adds up to a fraction of 1% of that amount. That’s just chump change. Still, we think that you folks should be royally embarrassed by how you are directed to treat us."

I am really sorry you feel this way. We take your posts and those of all other Store sellers who post here seriously. That's one of the reasons we have this monthly brown bag lunch on the discussion boards. My team is dedicated to supporting you and the eBay Stores product. If you have any more detail on what you mean by "how you are directed to treat us" I would be happy to try to address it. Thanks.

the "shop ebay stores box"

Quote:As to the issue Ann (owen*and*emma) brings up about the "Shop eBay Stores" box, I appreciate her perspective and yours on this but I should be clear that the box is working as intended. As we have mentioned in previous brown bag lunches, it is only supposed to show Store sellers based on their number of auction or fixed price listings. I understand owen*and*emma would rather it also include Store inventory listings and we are investigating making this change sometime next year.
