Overstock.com Auctions restricts sellers from listing more than five concurrent auctions for identical items. This policy was put in place to help potential bidders more easily browse item search results. Auctions which exceed this limit are subject to removal, and are not eligible for listing credits.

This policy does not apply to items that are similar but not identical.

Examples:

Mary wants to sell 4 pine bookshelves and 4 oak bookshelves. She may list 8 different auctions.
Mary wants to sell the same style of blouse available in 6 different colors. She may list 6 different auctions.

Items are still considered identical if their only difference is color.

Examples:

Mary wants to sell the same style of blouse in 6 different colors. She should list only 1 auction and note in the description that the buyer may select the color.

Mary wants to sell the same style of blouse in 6 different sizes, and each size is available in 6 different colors. She may not list 36 separate auctions, but she may list 6 separate auctions (one for each size) and note in the description that the buyer may select the color.

--------------------------------------------------------

Note: This new policy will require some time for adjustment. There will be a grace period in effect until October 15th, 2006, to allow sellers to be notified and adjust their listings accordingly. Please do not submit reports against other sellers until after the grace period.

Did they copy eBay's choice rules on apparel listings?  6 listings is still 5 too many...but much better than 36.
