Quote: Support for ISBN 13

Dear Amazon Book Sellers,

On January 1, 2007, the book industry will begin using 13 digit ISBNs to identify books in the supply chain. To comply with the industry standard and to make the transition seamless for our book sellers, we will be extending all our seller tools to support 13 digit ISBNs for before January 1, 2007.

Over the next few weeks we will be announcing details on how each of our book selling tools will support both 10 and 13 digit ISBNs.

In the meantime we invite you to learn more about 13 digit ISBNs from ISBN US at http://www.isbn.org/standards/home/isbn/transition.asp.

Thank you for selling on Amazon!

Quote: Book Loader and AIM API now support ISBN-13 format

Dear Amazon Booksellers,

In our push to provide ISBN-13 support for all of our selling tools by January 1, 2007, we are pleased to announce that The Book Loader book inventory upload tool and the AIM API web service now support the ISBN-13 format. The Create Product Detail Page tool will also support ISBN-13 starting the week of December 4, 2006.

Book Sellers who use Book Loader do not need to change any of their current formatting in their upload spreadsheets. They can list ISBN-13 numbers as an EAN (product-id-type = 4) or they can continue to submit either ISBN-10 or ISBN-13 as ISBN (product-id-type = 2).

For sellers and third party integrators who use the AIM API web service, please make sure to set the "AsinMatchCreate" value to ‘Y’ to submit pre-ISBN and ISBN-13 books, using the TabDelimitedBooks or UIEE formats. The value must be set to ‘N’ when posting to the /modify-only URL with TabDelimited format. TabDelimitedBooks and UIEE formats are not supported for the /modify-only URL.  For more information, please see: http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/d...ml?ie=UTF8&nodeId=16068301

For Booksellers using the Inventory Loader, ISBN-13 compliance is scheduled for December.
