Side note: the site is no longer included in PSU's listing charts.

In other news:  the site will introduce stores ("My OLA Houses") on February 14th

Quote:My OLA House is OnlineAuction.com's version of an "eStore"...

Verified Sellers and Charter Members will pay a low monthly fee of $10 for My OLA House. Founding Members will receive My OLA House, at no additional charge, as an added feature included in their first year rate of $196. Thereafter, Founding Members will be charged $10 a month, in addition to their annual renewal rate of $96. Premier Members will receive My OLA House, at no charge, for the duration of their membership,

I wonder if the site is owned by Ray's (Wagglepop) long lost twin. They have very similar marketing tactics. :Smile
Quote:Founding Members will receive My OLA House, at no additional charge, as an added feature included in their first year rate of $196. Thereafter, Founding Members will be charged $10 a month, in addition to their annual renewal rate of $96.

So the first year is $196 and the second year is really $216. :Smile
The front page now says 5 million:

Quote:5,052,179 Total Items Listed

that's total items not total listings...they stopped providing the number of total listings.  When their front page said 2.5 million total items there were actually only 135,000 total listings.

Quote:So the first year is $196 and the second year is really $216.

and the site has less traffic than wagglepoop

Egad. :blinkie:
90% sports cards is worse than BV's 80%.  Why bother listing 10 cent baseball cards? Nobody buys them.
The latest OLA news:

Auctionbytes article on OLA stores:

Quote:"What's unique about My OLA House is it's not a store, it's an auction house," said Patricia Cruz,VP Media & Corporate Relations, OnlineAuction.com. "All items on OnlineAuction.com are listed/sold in an auction format. This means what's in My OLA House is also listed among OnlineAuction.com's core auctions. The beauty of My OLA House is its simplicity, once you activate your My OLA House all your current auctions are automatically uploaded along with the ability to auto-load the corresponding categories instantaneously."

...and the site's home page now proclaims 6,139,010 Total Items Listed
Auctionbytes goofs big time and prints an article that incorrectly states that OLA announced it has 10 million listings - wrong, wrong, wrong.  OLA announced it has 10 million items listed - there is a large difference between 10 million items and 10 million listings (e.g. an auction for a 20 cent baseball card with a quantity of 20 would be counted as 1 listing by eBay...OLA would count it as 20 items). The actual number of listings on OLA is well under 1 million.

auctionbytes Wrote:OnlineAuction.com (OLA.com) announced it now has over 10,000,000 listings, a milestone it said has only been previously reached by eBay.

OLA Wrote:OLA.com is pleased to announce that it is only the second online auction EVER to have 10,000,000 items for sale on a site at one time.

EDIT: an example of how OLA distorts the numbers:

The 'browse' page lists 6,616,223 ITEMS in the baseball category.  Click over to the baseball category and you'll see that there are actually only 38771 Auctions under the ->Baseball category. - 6.6 million ITEMS in OLAspeak is actually 38,771 LISTINGS.
Quote:OLA's distorted count: what OLA counts as 6.6 million ITEMS would be counted as 38,771 LISTINGS by any other auction site.

OLA's unique counting method is the reason it was removed from PSU's auction listing chart.

Yes, this novel way of counting seems to be the fad. Another auction site owner (the 2nd owner) was claiming he was the founder. Gee, I was associated with that site before he bought it.
