Poetry Original Beeswax Collage In the Transbay Tube Train Subway Nostalgic Vintage Look
Original, One of a Kind Recycle Art
Poetry Art Beeswax Collage by Ren Adams (that's me!)
5 1/2" x 6"
Media: Natural Michigan Beeswax, paper ephemera, original poetry, upcycled fruit bar box, wax pigments.
I layered the materials in this vintage-look collage as organically as possible.
The poem reads:
In the Transbay Tube
In that tight-breath
body-heat way they
sit in silence as the train's
rumbling innards
tremble to a whisper.
They're stopped under
the bay and Macarthur is the transfer
point and there's not enough
time to catch the 70 anymore
and a row of gleaming
yellow taxis with bored
drivers sit along the crumbling
asphalt at the edge of someone's
thoughts.
Funny how strangers don't
talk to strangers and how warm a
friend's essence is next to you.
He'll be going back to Hong Kong soon.
I will miss him.
I will never be able to duplicate this handmade collage, so this is one of a kind!
For this piece I also recycled a bound-for-the-landfill lime Dreyer's Fruit Bars box, as the canvas. The Collage is nicely sealed with a matte finish, non-toxic, archival quality varnish to protect the wax bits.
My poem, "In the Transbay Tube" also appears in Tokens: An Anthology of Subway Poetry by P&Q Press.
Size:
5 1/2" x 6"
Signed and dated on the back.
