can't say i have tried a whole bunch, but on the simple end of shopping carts (that is simple to setup and use), I have some experience with Veracart.  I need to compare with 3D cart, but its not bad for a hosted cart ($20 a month)

I am curious if anyone has found a good shopping cart for multiple warehouses. We operate 3 warehouses plus we drop ship some items directly from manufacturers. Ideally, I am looking for software which will allow customers to go through a single checkout and calculate shipping based on which warehouse or manufacturer items ship from. When orders are placed, each warehouse (or manufacturer) would receive a packing slip for their items (vendors should receive a PO but I can work around this).

We are currently looking at SunShop and X-Cart Pro. Has anyone had much experience with either of these especially as it relates to shipping from multiple locations. Or can you recommend another package?

Thanks for any input.

Bob
We looked at X-Cart and strongly considered it, but I can't answer your question.  :-[

Make-A-Store does offer what you're looking for but its expensive (figure $150 plus monthly with the modules you would need...or you could buy the software for almost $3000+)
Thanks BBH.

CRE Loaded is planning on offering a number of the features we need but we need them now. Like ZenCart, they plan on rewriting a lot of the code and, in fact, have rewritten some.  Zen Cart appears to have the advantage in that their approach looks like it will be more in line with what osC is doing with MS3.

I used to design computer software and I know exactly what I want (and what we, in fact, provided even 20+ years ago for our clients). None of the shopping cart providers have a really good jobwith addressing multi-location inventories. In particular, none that I have seen recognize that I want to sell a single SKU in more than one location. So far, it appears that I will need to create slightly different SKUs for the items that we stock in multiple locations.

X-Cart Pro has a seems to be running in front but need to install their trial to really see how many hoops we will have to jump through. I sent them a list of questions in the hope of clarifying a number of our issues.

Out of curiousity, what changes are you making to Zen?
