Quote:Doctors Are The Third Leading Cause of Death in the US, Causing 250,000 Deaths Every Year...

This week's issue of the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) is the best article I have ever seen written in the published literature documenting the tragedy of the traditional medical paradigm...

The author is Dr. Barbara Starfield of the Johns Hopkins School of Hygiene and Public Health and she describes how the US health care system may contribute to poor health...

///evidence from a few studies indicates that as many as 20% to 30% of patients receive inappropriate care.

An estimated 44,000 to 98,000 among them die each year as a result of medical errors...

:blinkie:
And that does not begin to tell the story.

The entire idea of "treating" "disease" rather than fostering health is totally wrong-headed.

In the meantime the drug corporations are supressing herbal remedies as hard as they can.

And the damage done by medical/insurance bills to the wallets and thereby mental health of the public is huge.

Don't get me going........

Google offers to help the healthcare industry fight negative press from Michael Moore's "Sicko"

Quote:Lights, camera, action: the healthcare industry is back in the spotlight. (Not that it ever left the stage.) Next week, Michael Moore’s documentary film, Sicko, will start playing in movie theaters across America...

The healthcare industry is no stranger to negative press. A drug may be a blockbuster one day and tolled as a public health concern the next. News reporters may focus on Pharma’s annual sales and its executives’ salaries while failing to share R&D costs. Or, as is often common, the media may use an isolated, heartbreaking, or sensationalist story to paint a picture of healthcare as a whole. With all the coverage, it’s a shame no one focuses on the industry’s numerous prescription programs, charity services, and philanthropy efforts.

Many of our clients face these issues; companies come to us hoping we can help them better manage their reputations through “Get the Facts” or issue management campaigns. Your brand or corporate site may already have these informational assets, but can users easily find them?

We can place text ads, video ads, and rich media ads in paid search results or in relevant websites within our ever-expanding content network. Whatever the problem, Google can act as a platform for educating the public and promoting your message....

And this is why we are so screwed. The whole SICKO movie is about people truly suffering from our awful system. (I will not soon forget the faces of the three volunteer 911 rescue workers when the medical personel in the shiny Havana hospital (think Walter Reed)-CARED and TOOK CARE of them.

(DISCLAIMER: I don't know if it was staged, payed for, or would not be the experience of a typical Cuban)

Then corporate America just bligthly puts out a blurb like Google did. How are we ever going to get out of this mess????
