Quote:Users of PayPal's Website Payments Pro and Virtual Terminal received an email on Thursday informing them that fees were increasing effective September 1, 2007. There's been no announcement on the PayPal or eBay Website...

The letter told users that monthly service fees for Website Payments Pro and Virtual Terminal will increase from $20 to $30 per month. PayPal comedian Wrote:PayPal increased fees on Website Payments Pro and Virtual Terminal because "we were not recouping the costs," Bettencourt said. There are a lot of fees to process credit cards, she said, and PayPal fees are still much lower than other merchant accounts out there when factoring in "hidden" fees, such as statement fees and gateway fees that PayPal does not charge...

PayPal is cheaper for very low $ volume sellers but not for anyone else.

Holy crap!  So now even the stupid scammers who try and use B.S. credit cards can STILL cost you money if you use PayPal.

PayPal Website Payments Pro is definitely more expensive than our merchant account: PP $0.30 vs Merchant $0.25, PP (Website Pro Merchant Rate) 2.2% vs. Merchant 2.15%.  It would cost us over $100 more every month after figuring in our merchant account's "hidden fees"  to use PP Web Payments Pro.
