PayPal Buyer Protection, the program that provides up to $1,000.00 purchase protection on eligible items, plays a key role in building buyer confidence. Since the program launch, we have distinguished items that qualify for the program through the use of a "shield" icon.

Based on research and Community input, we have found that this icon is not the best way to represent this program to the majority of our Community. To improve awareness of this program, next week eBay is removing the shield from search and listings pages, as well as item pages. On item pages the shield will be replaced with the PayPal logo and the following text:

'Free PayPal Buyer Protection on this item. See eligibility.'

This will appear in the Seller's Information Box on items that qualify for PayPal Buyer Protection. We believe this will lead to a simpler, cleaner buyer experience that highlights PayPal Buyer Protection at the point of purchase when it applies.
yawn, a few weeks later on eBay Canada...

In other words.

Quote:Our bogus protection polices that we plastered
all over the place since we launched pp on ebay and
shoved PP down everyone’s throats
has backfired on us. Smileyyellowbang
All we were trying to do was make everyone feel safe.

Well...What really happen was every friggin scammer in the world were drawn to ebay and now we have pissed off so many because the scammers are smarter scammers than us.

So we are trying to undo the damage done. We figure if we make it harder for scam buyers
to decipher the bogus programs than they will go to Amazon or Yahoo.
Or maybe if Goggle gets a site up they will go their. Yea that’s the ticket.

Now please good sellers and buyers come on back…
Well make it right so how.

Remember. It’s all about the “vibrancy”.

All the crap they are doing now is too little way too late.  Thefinger feebay

It doesn't say that on my item pages  Tongue  Mine say:

Quote:Shop without sharing your financial details Learn more

...but you still have to share your financial details with PayPal and worry about PayPal double or triple debiting your debit card after you make a purchase.  Use my merchant account and you don't have to worry about that.
