Today, with the launch of “the Percolator,” Technorati enters into this space. As it turns out, speaking with Richard Jalichandra was a commodity item today. I had the opportunity to speak with Technorati Marketing guy and company spokesperson Aaron Krane today, instead, and we had a great discussion (audio embedded at the end of the post).

The first thing you’ll notice in usage of the system is how fast it loads. Instead of relying on JavaScript or other client-side app functionality (as with the previous version of the front page), everything is coded server side, and loads quickly. Based on the discussions and insights Krane provided me with the inner workings and aim of the Technorati Percolator, the aim of this particular memetracker is to return the feel of utility to Technorati that drew us to it in the first place. Of all the aaron-krane.PNGmemetrackers in existence, it bears the most similarity to Google News, in that it bases the rankings of stories on an algorithmic processing of what has been spidered of the blogosphere (of course, though, Google News crawls mainstream media sources, whereas Technorati crawls the blogosphere)...
