Re: Milbid, Sexism, and Big Sex Toys
Is he for real?
I mean, really for real? Total sales: 288, for a grand total of $1249? So, members spend all that time listing and promoting, and you can't manage to sell a measly 3% of the site's inventory in 5 months? That's just the sold counts, the dollar value is less than 1% sell-through! (I know, irrelevant and illogical on alternatives) That's $4.33 per sale, for, get this, 58 stores with items listed. Average of 5 sales per sellerfor a grand total of $21.53 in 5 months... That's what I call a return on your time investment into a site! http://www.milbid.com/our_stats.php Not to mention that every one of the largest 10 sellers are the same you would find on any PHP Pro Bid site. This means they are selling to the exact same people, but have a warm fuzzy feeling about "multi-channeling" on different venues. Can anyone from MilBid explain this? How can a site be so wonderful that you cannot produce enough sales in 5 months to cover one full time seller for a day. Just selling part time, $1249 is an average week for most. I was sick if I only sold that much in a week on eBay part time! I had to have at least a full bucket every single day to haul into the P.O. I guess I am just getting old. If I can't have more success than 21 bucks in 5 months, I'd rather not be in it at all.

Quote:Total sales: 288, for a grand total of $1249? The lowest eBay Silver Powerseller sells as much in one month as Milbid's yearly GMV...the lowest Platinum Powerseller sells more in 4 days than is sold on Milbid in an entire year. Other sites only have one forum link on their navigation bar, Milbid has two (forums and community)...and let's not forget the contests (the latest: earn points for placing bids). :twistedevil:

Re: Milbid, Sexism, and Big Sex Toys
Milbid upgraded their phpprobid script yesterday. Listings fell from 11200 pre-upgrade to 5793 today and half the 231 members can't login to the site. :
July 3 Wrote:I want to apologize for the rash move I made without doing a complete notification. The newsletter feature was not working last night in my attempts to do so. I tried announcing it everywhere else but I failed to reach many. So with the new system I want to try getting the word to everyone. Some can get in with your passwords and some can't. I am trying to resolve the password issue. Once I do everything will be back to normal. I should have everyone back in shortly. I just ask for patience while I finish the last areas of the site. There is no current connection between the main site and forum. This needs to be reprogrammed and will be done immediately after the bulk lister is re-established. I am moving as fast as possible so everyone can get back to business here. I will email everyone once we are 100% again. July 4 Wrote:Good morning and Happy 4th to everyone. I have MilBid nailed down today. I am going through and unlocking accounts to make sure everyone can get in. I just finished 15 accounts. Are you still locked out? If so send me an email at admin@milbid.com with your username. I will unlock this in minutes for you. One thing I need everyone to look at when you get into your account and check over your personal details and fill out the payment methods. If you had a store you need to reactivate it. We are getting close to getting back up and running. Today I will get the MilLister back again so the ones doing many listings can have that back again. Please email me directly with your information so I can get you back into the site.
