eBay Bully Terrorizes Online Users

Some consumers are discovering that when they bid on eBay, they're opening a portal to problems.

Tina Schimke and her husband, Dwayne, began having trouble with eBay when they placed a bid on a bike from what looked to be a legitimate seller.

When the Schimkes e-mailed back with a question about the shipping cost, the seller blasted them with a nasty e-mail

...The seller left her a message that said, "Hey there, schmuck boy -- not answering the phone now?"...

The seller made harassing phone calls to several buyers, and made death threats.  eBay's response:

Despite complaints, Esquitin is still on eBay.

Ebay said it assumes no responsibility for any encounters outside their Web site.

Nope, these buyers received death threats as a result of making a "safe" purchase on the eBay web site.    Soooo, I guess the message eBay is sending is that it is "eBay legal" for sellers (or buyers) to repeatedly telephone their trading partners and make death threats if they're unhappy with any aspect of a transaction.  :
