Inflation is the top concern of online shoppers

With inflation by far the top concern among online consumers, e-retailers must keep costs in check and compete on price to keep cost-conscious consumers from taking their business elsewhere, says Gian Fulgoni, chairman of web measurement firm comScore Inc.

He cites comScore survey data showing 67% of online consumers named rising prices as their top economic concern in July, up from 64% in April. Job security was a distant second at 14% in July, followed by the crisis in financial markets at 8% and declining real estate values at 5%...
