The goal is more buyers and more sales for everyone. An analogy would be like rounding up cattle. The buyers are spread out over lots of different auction sites, but if we can round them up, and drive them into our corral or website, than we can keep them there and control the herd or the market. Right now ebay is the big cattle baron, but we got lots of good cowboys (sellers) that just need to join forces and work together, instead of trying to work independant.

I don't see it, and this chart (http://community.tuliptools.com/index.ph...2.new.html) doesn't show that eBay's marketplace enjoys a monopoly position amongst multi-seller venues.

Oligopoly might be a better term to use when referring to the concentration of power (i.e. marketshare) enjoyed by the top 3 players in the multi-seller marketplace segment of the ecommerce world.

OK, I cast my vote for craigslist for 2 reasons: it's free (in most categories), and most importantly, it is one of the very few Internet companies where "greed" is a 4-letter word rather than the basis of the business plan -- unlike eBay or ScottyDo.  tolensmiley:

I'd suggest shifting focus from a seller boycott of eBay to a buyer boycott.  I'd be more than happy to volunteer my stores to be the ONE SITE that buyers join together and support.

What you are saying is that the only marketing tool that works for you is spamming members of other sites? If so, maybe you need to rethink your business model and plan.

Thats exactly what I am saying, this is the ONLY thing that has worked and I am seeing huge results.

You call it spamming, I call it selective emailing to sellers I hand picked. I am not contacting everyone on the site or sending out blanket emails, I am picking professional sellers that have nice ads and know what they are doing.
