A1Outlet Relaunches
A1's marketplace relaunches under new ownership at www.a1outlet.com
announcement Wrote:This is Jennifer. I was formally one of the account managers over at
the marketplace for what was once a1Books. As you may or may not have
heard, a1Books was forced into bankruptcy by the state of NJ and the
state held a liquidation sale over the summer selling what was left of
the company. One of the attendees at the auction was another NJ based
business, Bookazine. Bookazine is a full service book wholesaler who
not only has been in the business since 1929 but takes great pride in
offering personal and dedicated service. One of the services they
would like to offer is a marketplace and bought at the auction the
proper areas of equipment and technology to do so. Knowing how much I
loved the marketplace and working with sellers, they asked me to come
on board.

I'm reaching out to you to invite you to this new marketplace.
Bookazine has decided to stay with the a1Outlet.com concept to grow
the marketplace into more than just a site for books. The good news is
that sellers will not have to adjust to a new marketplace in terms of
commission rates, rules and the look and feel of the seller interface.
The a1Outlet will still be a low 10% commission off the entire sale,
sellers can dictate what shipping price they want to list items for,
and there is no monthly fee.
We understand that many sellers used inventory and sales management
systems to control their sales. Sellers can use Art of Books,
BookTrakker, Bookstores Optima, Basil software and Fillz as well as

uploading files via FTP or the interface if preferred.........

Well, I had my doubts, but then they had the GoDaddy seal on there twice, so got my business for sure!  Headbang

Wonder what one has to do in order to be "forced into Bankruptcy by the state of NJ"?

My guess would be that converting a Chapter 7 to a voluntary Chapter 11 and then being unable to meet the obligations of the reorganization plan and/or your creditors objecting to the terms of the reorganization plan will get you an involuntary Chapter 7

I'm assuming they were unsuccessful in raising the $4-$5 million in venture capital mentioned here:

I probably won't be relisting on A1 v2.  Sales on A1 v1 were very slow compared to the larger media selling venues like Alibris or Amazon
"Well, Jay was so giddy that someone named Jay was involved with this site we posted our first non-eBay listing in 3 years here at Lunarbid (we tried two items at Yahoo once upon a time, they bombed)" -Marie posting in a LunarBid thread at OTWA in 2005 wins the award for 'most moronic reason ever given for choosing a venue"

"thanks twat u must have nothing better 2 do. do u talk to all your members like that. will not be recomending your site.
best way to put it is TULIPTOOLS.COM IS REALLY SHIT. DONT JOIN." -pubescent owner of rinky dink off2auction.com in 2011
