2500 Aussies live off eBay: claim

For 2500 Australians, going to work now means logging on to online auction site eBay.

A report by ACNielsen has found eBay...was the primary source of income for almost 2500 Australians.

The research also revealed almost 7000 people had considered quitting their day job to sell online full time, more than 32,400 regional Australians generated a part-time income selling online and 12,500 stay-at-home mums sold on eBay to supplement the family income.

The survey shows the largest group of eBay sellers are 30-34 years old, closely followed by those aged 35-39.

More than half of sellers are married and 49 per cent have children aged under 18.
