Alibaba vows to beat Google

Alibaba.com chief executive Jack Ma said his company was the undisputed king of the web in China after seeing off e-Bay and taking over Yahoo's Chinese operations in an August deal that secured a billion dollars of investment.

Ma said Google was vulnerable in China and that Alibaba would focus on building up its search engine to keep out Google...

He'll say anything to get publicity in the US press, won't he  Laughing7

Beating market leader Baidu not Google is what he needs to do if Alibaba/Yahoo is going to become the dominant player in Chinese search...overcoming the small gap between Alibaba/Yahoo and Google shouldn't be that hard to do now that Alibaba's and Yahoo's China operations have merged.

China's Alibaba aims for IPO in 3-5 years
