I'd file an item not as described complaint first and then neg them.

Re: Ebay adding Shipping Times??
I'm probably drunk again and off-topic on the topic shift after 5 pages, but ...
Is it possible eBay wants to add shipping times to help people find eBay auctions through shopping sites? (like www.pricegrabber.com) |

Re: Ebay adding Shipping Times??
Well whatever their reasons are for all the stupid moves they have made
in the last couple of years. It does seem to indicate one thing to me. They indeed are and have BEEN loosing market share for quite some time now and have lost their way. By my entrepreneurial thinking. If you find a combination that works, you STICK with it until it don't work anymore. Seeing as ebay is constantly changing indicates they have NOT found that "combination that works" or once they lost IT a few years back, they can not figure out HOW to get IT back. We have ALL told them a thousand times over what they need to do. They simply wont listen. It's like a relationship gone sour. After trying and trying for so long to make IT work and you keep you finally have to throw your arms up and say "f" IT and move on.

Quote:We have ALL told them a thousand times over what they need to do. I don't think there is anything they could do to regain the growth in their US auction business because the novelty of online auctions has worn off in the US, and probably within the next couple of years will wear off in eBay's 2nd & 3rd biggest markets Germany and the UK. When the novelty of auctions wears off people move to fixed price buying because it is more convenient which is why eBay has been making acquisitions like Shopping.com, Kurant (now ProStores) etc., and introducing features that other online retailers have (like shipping delivery times) ...and of course eBay is trying to make up for the loss of momentum in its US auction business (and eventual slowdown in the UK and Germany) by pushing into China, South Korea, and India where online auctions are still somewhat of a novelty.
"Well, Jay was so giddy that someone named Jay was involved with this site we posted our first non-eBay listing in 3 years here at Lunarbid (we tried two items at Yahoo once upon a time, they bombed)" -Marie posting in a LunarBid thread at OTWA in 2005 wins the award for 'most moronic reason ever given for choosing a venue"
"thanks twat u must have nothing better 2 do. do u talk to all your members like that. will not be recomending your site. best way to put it is TULIPTOOLS.COM IS REALLY SHIT. DONT JOIN." -pubescent owner of rinky dink off2auction.com in 2011 |

Re: Ebay adding Shipping Times??
Very true BBH and your analysis is so on target.
I've said it too many times before about the whole "Fad" thing. That's another reason I'm always out there BUZZ marketing stand alone websites. IMO and own analysis as well. The days of the BIG online auction are indeed nearing an end. At least as the dominate player "trendy" thing they were in it's infancy. I foresaw this from day one and is why I immediately began building my BRAND and stand alone site. One of the things I've come to dislike about ebay so much is their dictatorial attitude. In the last few years they have continuously done so many things to try and "close the gap" and STOP us all from DRIVING traffic to our respective stand alone sites. I understand why they are doing it. I just don't like the whole "anti competitive" way in which they are conducting themselves in doing so. I do have to say this. It WAS a great springboard as well as a great way to get a feel of the ins and outs and of online retailing / marketing and WAS a great way to advertise and DRIVE traffic to our respective stand alone sites. Can you guess what the operative word above is here???
