Lisa, 35, and Scott, 32, wanted to raise between $3,000 and $4,000 to erase most of their debt and improve their credit rating, hoping they'd be able to afford to buy the house they rent near Toano. Their landlord asked them to either get financing to purchase it or move by March 1 as they'd had problems paying their rent on time

The couple withdrew their auction from eBay Tuesday night because some of those who pledged support - including one man who offered $3,000 - said it didn't make sense for them to get rid of their belongings if they were going to get financial donations...
