Etsy.com New Marketplace For Handmade Items
So...has anyone tried this site?

The site just opened in June and is a fixed price venue for handmade items with about 7000 items listed.  Sellers get their own storefront.  No listing or FVF  fees until November 1st, and then $0.20 per item and a 3.5% FVF.  The site actually is well made (i.e. they didn't just go out and spend $200 for phpprobid, slap a logo on an out of the box program, and declare themselves the next ecommerce megasite  :twistedevil: )
"Well, Jay was so giddy that someone named Jay was involved with this site we posted our first non-eBay listing in 3 years here at Lunarbid (we tried two items at Yahoo once upon a time, they bombed)" -Marie posting in a LunarBid thread at OTWA in 2005 wins the award for 'most moronic reason ever given for choosing a venue"

I like the design, and lots of items already!  Smile

It looks like I can't list my canvases there though!  I am interested to see how it does.

If you'd get off your butt and STITCH a needlepoint canvas, you could sell it on etsy. Violent5

The other thing I like is the site has some focus. They're not trying to be the next eBay but are trying to cover an area where eBay may be weak. Maybe they read one of the Guerilla Selling books.

eBay only received 5%???  Don't shoppers know it is the only safe place to buy???  Happy001

Etsy is up to 1700+ sellers and 13,100 items...and they're one of only 6 editor's picks...pretty good for a site that started in June.

Re: Etsy.com New Marketplace For Handmade Items
I LOVE IT. It’s good smooth site.
Glad to see feebay down too.
Happy001

I put a few items up there. Some lookers so far but no buyers.
But I'm sure more and more are looking to do OTHER than feebay.
Their mouses are doing the  Walk ing No Doubt.

Web site sales are up and more folks are just about DONE dealing with feebay.
Sellers are pissed, buyers are pissed. It's just a matter of time.

I'm surprised they named Become.com a shopping pick.  Do a search for Tulips.  #1 is one of our sites. Happy001

Etsy - next generation eBay!
Channel Advisor's CEO Scott Wingo wrote an article in his blog on Etsy

Quote:Etsy - next generation eBay!

...The beauty of Etsy is they started from the ground up improving many of the things that are wrong/broken with eBay.
