More Auction Cities Press Releases...
3 press releases in 2 weeks...I'm still waiting for them to release press release #4 "AuctionCities Announces The Screwing Of The Small Sellers Who Kept It Alive For Years"  :twistedevil:

anyways, here's  today's release  Smile

AuctionCities.com Appoints Director of Corporate Communications

http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/050822/lam036.html?.v=21  Signs062

I somehow missed this next one they issued on August 10th which partially details the new direction the site is headed in (it omits the little fact of the company's shift in focus to catering to high volume sellers at the expense of its small sellers--that little fact was detailed in press release #3...  Wink ):

Finally, Local Auctions, AuctionCities.com Goes Public

http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/050810/law062.html?.v=23

My favorite line in the release is the first sentence:

Quote:AuctionCities.com, Inc., new in the auction industry, announced, today...

They should really patent the idea of  being able to wipe out your past history by changing your name.  Think of the licensing possibilities: debtors would gladly pay to use this invention to get creditors off their back without the need for filing for bankruptcy, likewise criminals, Tammy Faye Baker's makeup artist, and Michael Jackson's plastic surgeon would also gladly pay the licensing fee to wipe out the public's memories of their past errors.  :twistedevil:

"Well, Jay was so giddy that someone named Jay was involved with this site we posted our first non-eBay listing in 3 years here at Lunarbid (we tried two items at Yahoo once upon a time, they bombed)" -Marie posting in a LunarBid thread at OTWA in 2005 wins the award for 'most moronic reason ever given for choosing a venue"

"thanks twat u must have nothing better 2 do. do u talk to all your members like that. will not be recomending your site.
best way to put it is TULIPTOOLS.COM IS REALLY SHIT. DONT JOIN." -pubescent owner of rinky dink off2auction.com in 2011

Re: More Auction Cities Press Releases...
Yet another press release, this one from 8/30, further confirming the company's change in focus from a primarily  person to person marketplace to a B2B and B2C marketplace.

highlights of the release:

Quote:AuctionCities.Com Creates Automotive Marketplace for New and Previously Owned Vehicles

...The AuctionCities.com Automotive Marketplace will target both business-to- business (B2B) as well as business-to-consumer (B2C) markets....

...AuctionCities.com intends to include the inventory databases of major national automotive aggregators into its Business-to-Business Marketplace .... New and previously owned vehicles will be offered for sale at either a fixed price or via auction format...

...In the Business-to-Consumer (B2C) Marketplace, local automobile dealerships will be the foundation of the automobile inventory...

Yet Another Auction Cities Press Release...
...this one from 9/7.  Issuing press releases seems to be a weekly thing with them now.  Wink

While I don't like the way AuctionCities/BidWay/AuctionDiner/BidBay's recent huge fee increase has completely screwed the small smallers who had kept it afloat since BidBay's little legal battle with eBay, I do think the new management's shift in forcus from C-2-C auctions to B-2-B and B-2-C auctions is a good move for the company.
