Man sues over chatroom humiliation
Quote:An Ohio man who claims that he was humiliated by two other participants in an AOL chatroom has sued the two men for causing emotional distress and the ISP for failing to stop the alleged abuse, according to a report from Law.com.

The case, which is due for a hearing in an Ohio court today, is said to be the first of its kind.

According to Law.com, Medina County resident George Gillespie sued Mike Marlowe of Alabama and Bob Charpentier of Oregon after the two men began teasing him online.

Other reports suggest that Gillespie was himself indulging in a little “banter” in the chatroom, making fun of Charpentier’s girlfriend, and posting a picture of Charpentier’s home online...

Re: Man sues over chatroom humiliation
Reading that article it sounds like both sides are to blame.  Maybe the other parties might have went too far with their teasing and maybe not, but it looks like Gillespie did his own share of being out of line himself.

Bottom line, if he didn't like how he went being teased then he should have stopped going back to the chat room in the beginning of the teasing before it got out of hand.  No one forced him to keep going back or if he was determined not to be pushed out of there then he could have ignored them - they eventually would have got bored and stopped but nope, he had to add fuel to the fire by posting personal pictures of one of the other fellow's personal life (girls, house) - what did he expect when he did that - that the other guy would not react?

They all sound like a bunch of children.
